Winter coats and jackets

same for me ^ :-) if i know i will be around walking quite a bit, i will wear something lighter even if it is freezing at first. i tend to heat up in a few minutes, i used to time it for fun when i used to walk to work.. it would always start when i reached a certain intersection

I've just bought this Derek Lam Jacket.
IRL is very soft and versatile because of the double collar

From net-a-porter.com

aaghhh, i was looking at that! i already have a similarly shaped coat so chose something else, but that one is a great choice.

maybe cause its so cold in Scotland and I always feel the cold... but that's just me!

Amen! Did summer ever start?

I like having a lot of coats. They're one of my things. No matter what I'm wearing underneath,if I'm outside, then the coat 'does the talking for me'. They hide a multitude of style sins.

I've got my eye on this one in topshop at the moment,I tried it on the other day and even though on the hanger it looked a little odd,on it was perfection. It's pay day tomorrow so it might be coming home with me

^I like it! Do you already own a purple coat in your impressive collection?

I've got a lilac A Line Mohair coat!

So nothing like this... I've got a green one of a similar shape... but this one is even a bit more fitted than my green one which I truely adore!

What new coats is everyone buying this fall/winter? or just loving/eyeing? I need a new one, but nothing is jumping out at me. In need of some inspiration . .

MMMM ^ I like too... im surprised how many OK looking fake furs are about this year... Im not sure I'd personally go faux fur as I just prefer the "real thing" in life... but thats a nice coat!

Ida... Firstly I don't know how you came to the conclussion that thinking because I simply have a lot of clothes makes me stylish?

Well...right about here:

I just dont wear individual coats too often so people dont associate me with wearing the same coat day in day out. I don't get people who do that... one coat per season and just wear it all the time! Mind you I have about 25 coats !LOL

Just to clarify :flower:

My Gina Tricot coat didn't work out...grrrrr  I got a super super cheap oversized grey wool swing jacket though. The shoulder seams definitely need some pressing, but I can do that myself. I'm actually surprised by how good it looks at that price.

I was a bit worried that it wouldn't fit my style, but it's actually very cute and I will get tons of wear out of it! It goes with all my boots, which is the most important thing really...that's all you see of me in the winter anyway, coat and boots

Ida... dont want to turn this into a public argument... but even there with your quote of me above! Where does it say there that I think having a lot makes me stylish... all I say is I like to have a lot so I have the choice of signature pieces... and it is my choice to do this in the winter through various coats and accessories... but its how I put my looks together that hopefully makes me stylish not the simple fact I have 26 coats now!

I've just got this for autumn (ebay.co.uk), it's a little more turquoisey, lovely and warm and cute:

I've got a few coats, as Zarina said, I find it handy to have different types for different temperatures and occasions. I've got a thin leather jacket, a cropped leather jacket, the short wool coat above, and for when it's really cold a really smart dark green long wool coat I've had for a couple of years that never looks dated. Oh and the fake fur jacket for nights out.

Swedish winters are usually around -20 (and colder).
You can't just wear a trench here, you'll freeze to death
I have a very thick (and not so pretty) winter jacket. But it keeps me warm and that's all I need.

You can play around with fall and spring jackets more.. in the winters you just don't want to be cold..

has anyone had a jacket/coat with goose down in it?
