Winter coats and jackets

kenysha, wow that's really is gorgeous.. Congrats. :flower:

dumbfairy, it looks great on you - great buy.

I really would like a new winter coat - something draped or architectural... Though I can't afford one right now, so I guess I'll wait to next year - and then get an ultimate one...
I can live with my classic navy trench in wool.. ^_^

@dumbfairy and william st girl:

Glad to hear there are barbour-lovers! My mom was like: do you still like that? It isn't fashionable anymore. But i like the english look, and i think it's pretty easy to combine. What do you wear under it to make it look nice?
And the one i had wasn't that cold at all, but i'm always wearing like 5 or 6 layers on top :D

Kenysha love your 2 recent purchases. I'd love to see your Vanessa Bruno coat on, it looks so cozy!

I will try to post some pics later on now that my camera is back to life ...

It looks good on you! Thanks for sharing  Too bad UO in the US doesn't carry UK items and vice versa.

I can post a photo of one of my wax jackets later as I wore it today and took an outfit photo  I treat it like any other coat,I have no problems wearing it with anything. Even on a night out when I'm all dressed up,I have my barbour! (It's too cold and wet here not to!) One of the things I love about it most is the lovely deep pockets

Barbour wax pea-coat. Sorry it's not the greatest of photos.
(I seem like a total addict )

Also my little sister bought me a navy Burberry trench coat today which I will collect from her next week :buzz:

Thank you pinkprincess for the sweet comment
Yes it is a shame that Urban Outfitters dont carry the same items wheter youre in the USA or Europe...

i think i need help from new yorkers here. I've never been to nyc during christmas time, and im afraid im gonna be FREEZING. Since it basically never gets so cold around here, im very clueless about what i'll really need to protect me from the cold. I don't really feel comfortable in puffy coats, but what should i do? what do you new yorkers wear?

OK... Im not from NYC but been 3 times visiting over christmas/ new year period and i'd say yeh... you def need to prepair for the cold.

Puffy coats are in over there and you will see them on many people... but they are hardly stylish so I understand you not wanting to get one... maybe the only exception to them is moncler jackets which I have to admit are kinda nice... esp the ones with the fur hoods.

However my recomendation is either a nice thick wool coat of a fur coat... Personally i'd go with fur... the ultimate in style luxuary and warmth... and you wont be alone in wearing it on the streets of NYC so wont need to hide from anti activists... faux fur is ok... but you'll never be as warm! Real fur is sooo toasty compaired to its weight to warmth ratio... cant beat it...

You could always buy over there too... much cheaper than buying in europe just now...

In terms of other atire... go cosy all the time... cashmere cardis and scarfs, hats and gloves protect the extremities... and yeh on a cold day you cant even beat a nice pair of ear muffs... the cold there can just make you feel like you want your face to crack and fall off at times...

Err that's about it from me... just wrap up whatever but fur is my recomendation!

I'm wearing a vintage dark brown mink coat this winter... but I adore the Helmut Lang upside down coat.

Love that Helmut Lang too though... its such a nice shape!

I just bought this Helmut Lang moleskin jacket that I'm really excited about. I think it could probably hold me over during fall, winter and spring.

I have found one! Finallyyyyy :D
Haven't got a picture of it yet, but it's something like the Barbour Wax coat, but more like a trench, so it's longer. Went first for the Barbour, but they didn't have it in a size 2 :-/ But I love my new coat even more! I'll post picture as soon as my camera is availible

chanelandfur: I have a Nicholas K coat very much like that from about 4 years ago - I've worn it every winter, great staying power! You should acquire this Helmut creation. *enable enable enable* :P

I don't think I've taken this jacket off since I bought it a few weeks ago! It's comfortable, not too heavy, and, perhaps most importantly, it has a hood, which most similar winter jackets seem to lack.
