Yohji Yamamoto F/W 2023.24 Paris

While I prefer "b*tch clothing", Yohji Yamamoto is always a pleasure to watch.

too late to edit my last post but....I wasn't even looking at the models, are some of these literal children????

Love this jacket, the lapels are like a wearable version of Cristóbal Balenciaga "envelope dress":

Marvellous! His work never fails to inspire and touch. That wonderful look (15) with the hooded coat, which falls in such an eye-catching shape is a highlight! And his play with pleats is always pleasing.

we can forever count on him to delight us.

amazing as per usual and on a first impression, it somehow appears to be on a safer mode (a part of it) but then looking carefully it’s clear (as always) that there’s thought, attention to it’s creativity and precision. like always. the last black dress is the perfect example.

Looks 14, 17, 18, 19 and 27.......come to my cupboards, PLEASE!

I love how generous he is with fabric, there's a level of precision and poetry in his work that never fails to speak to me.

Love how the clothes wraps around the body and love the mood. Also a super refreshing change to not see K-pop idols and celebs-I-don’t-recognise arrriving and posing in big cars. :P

there is gradual loss as the show goes. if YY femme is about emotions generated by something missing, or appreciation of nothingness, this is straightforward approach since SS99. that show was lighthearted, fun. but this time it's different.

I was a bit immune to this because I've been obsessing AGAIN over his early 00s work, the more sensual, romantic type of thing that he revisits now and then, and he's not in the mood for that this season and I thought I was not in the mood for this .. but, he always gets me when I see the back shots and little drawings. I still wish to find one day that coat that has a naked siren on the inside. Some of the details on this are ..

to be fair, Yohji (in fact, this is true of the Holy Trinity and their proteges in general) has never courted celebrities, I can count on one hand the number of times in the last two decades I've seen his clothes on the red carpet on someone who isn't Charlotte Rampling.

Yes, I really miss that period of his work (I would also include the tail end of the 90s)! I really hope he presents that part of his aesthetic again. I think The Row has adopted many elements of Yohji's work from that period. But Yohji's clothes are always much much more special.

this is never heavy, even when compared to the striptease season. maybe just getting close to literature while that show was more like entertainment and he acted as a vaudevillian.

you see what should have been there disappearing, sort of in the waning moon way. and there is just a sight of some place left behind even by the subject, there are none. his story or song here is like that. I can't help liking it as well.
