Your Beauty Routine

P.S: Has anyone besides me heard of the Sothy's skin care line? I just wanted to get someone else's feedback on it.

i wash my face with water everyday..haha usually in the shower
its normal so it doesnt really get dry or oily and i dont wear much makeup, a lil mascara or lipgloss from time to time

i rarely use moisturizer but if it does get dry or i want glowy skin ill use Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture! i love it because it just makes my skin look healthier. as you can see, i try not to use too many products on a regular basis because i dont like feeling dependent on products. no makeup means less worrying about finding the right cleanser.

i shampoo with Kerastase Bain Satin 3 from the Nutritive and condition with Kerastase Lait Vital also from Nutritive line..every one to two days depending on how my hair feels. this shampoo has been absolutely amazing for my hair..i feel like it really repaired it. i started using in October because my super long color treated hair was getting a bit dry. now my hair is back to normal and not so dry so im most likely going to switch to a normal shampoo(not a moisturizing one because i dont really need it anymore) because Kerastase is so expensive!

I've heard Kerastase Bain Satin 3 is really good for dry hair, because it's a nourishing shampoo - and it's even better for roots that get oily quickly because it's so rich that you don't need to use a conditioner. Do you think that's true, kissablekae? Or do you feel the shampoo was really a big part of getting your hair back to normal?

You might want to take a look at review sites like makeupalley.com or essentialdayspa.com's forum area. There are lots of info and it might help you

I have very sensitive and dry skin prone to allergic reactions like cystic acne to most every line unless very gentle. Skin changed recently being in my 30s or I don't know what but it's very frustrating.

I have tried Chanel, YSL, La Mer, Thalgo, Laura Mercier pretty much alllll the supposed great lines and also Jurlique and Yonka etc. but I have happily found my regimen in these- (though I found I can use most Clarins or Bobbi Brown as far as readily available lines);

Morning:
Dermalogica Ultra Calming Cleanser for eyes and face
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre(24hr Miracle Cream) -
many models and pros use this and can be used as cleanser as well as perfect primer.
Shu Uemura UV Underbase sometimes if needed.
Still looking for High SPF and effective Sunscreen.
Shu Uemura Velvet Perfect adjusting powdery foundation

Dermalogica Daily MicroExfoliant or REN exfoliator when needed.

Evening:
Shu Uemura Balancing Oil and follow with Dermlogica Ultra Calming cleanser to make sure I don't break out from oil residue. In Case*
Or, BIODERMA Crealine H2O cleanser to use without water- really great for sensitive skin to take off all make up easily and conveniently.
And then Embryolisse or Aesop Face Oil or AmorePacific Time Response Renewal Cream.
Amore Time Response Hand Lotion and eye cream is great too.

It sounds like a lot but thses are my HG items so I don't get bored with one thing and I know that they all work individually for my very picky skin.
Hope it helps someone

PS. I also use this shampoo line called N.P.P.E.
It smells amazing and works so well but very gentle.

Morning
- wash with mild cleanser (Nivea Beauté Young)
- tone (L'Oréal Pure Zone)
- moisturize with Garnier Fresh

- take vitamin supplements (multivitamin & biotin)

Evening
- shower
- wash hair with L'Oréal Nutri-Gloss Shampoo
- condition with John Frieda Volume Conditioner

- wash with daily facial scrub (Clearasil)
- moisturize
- apply anti-acne gel from dermatologist

Twice a week
- use a scrub (The Body Shop sea-weed)
- apply a mask

Morning: Splash water on my face, moisturize

Night: Wash face with foaming cleanser, moisturize

It may sound gross, but I try to only shower three to four times a week to prevent my skin and scalp from completely drying out.

I have normal/combo skin (oily T-zone)... but deshydrated as hell!

Morning:
CLEANSER : Splash cool water on my face a couple of times
TONER : Extra-Comfort Toning Lotion by Clarins
MOISTURIZER : Moisture Quenching Hydra-Care Lotion by Clarins
MAKEUP : I only apply mineral makeup now, it's a life (and time!) saver:heart:

Night:
MAKEUP REMOVER : Gentle eye makeup remover by L'Oréal and Cleansing cloths by Marcelle
CLEANSER : Gentle foaming cleanser by Clarins
TONER : Extra-Comfort Toning Lotion by Clarins
MOISTURIZER : Gentle night cream by Clarins

Once a week:
EXFOLIATOR : Gentle exfoliating cream by ROC
MASK : Aspirin mask made with 6 crushed tablets and about 1 table spoon of Purifying cleansing mask by Jean D'Estrées

I'm 26 and I know I should be using an eye cream, but every single one I tried made my eyes very itchy and sensible! So I'm still looking...

First of all, after a lot of combinations, I have finally touched upon the one that really gets my skin glowing. I have a weird combination of sensitive, moisture-deprived skin, but skin that still needs regular exfoliation.

Second, I don't understand why people wash their faces in the morning and evening...the only reason you'd need to wash your face in the morning--aside from splashing water maybe to wake yourself up--would be if your pillowcase is really dirty.

Anyway, here's what I use:

Every night:
Cetaphil face cleanser
Kiehl's extra gentle eye makeup remover
Kiehl's milk, honey almond scrub (so gentle)
Kiehl's creme d'elegance repairateur (so soft and absorbs right away without oiliness)

I used to use Fresh brown sugar scrub on my face every other night and Aveeno ultra calming moisturizer nightly and it worked just as well, but the jars were so tiny I'd go through them so fast and the scrub tended to get sticky between my fingers. Anyway. That's me.

I do, however, use the Fresh brown sugar BODY scrub when I shower. Along with TiGi strawberry lemonade body wash...yummy.

And once a week--because I'm naturally very pale and live in LA--I use Estee Lauder sunless tan towelettes on my face and spray on the rest of my body. Totally natural looking and easy to apply.

As for hair, I use Bumble & Bumble's blonde color-treated shampoo & condition. I used to use Kerastase once a week, but have fell of that but it doesn't seem to be affecting my hair.

Oh, and since I'm such a Kiehl's girl, I of course use Creme with Silk Groom to tame my wavy locks.

8:54 am - 9:05 am

wake up - 2 glasses of "warm" water - shower - shave - get dressed - quick breakfast - pack bag- leave home

LOTS OF WATER

10:30 pm - 02:15 am

the fashion spot (lots of H2O here too) - PJ's - 20 min. of skincare time - turn my ipod on - sleep

What doest hte aspirin mask do exactly?
And I asked elsewhere but have you tried AmorePacific Time Response eye cream? They have them at Bergdorf and Neiman and I am really curious what others think of the line. I tried the samples and they were really great. SO FAR.

BTW, does anyone know the name of this reeeally lovely lemon body wash/gel thing that's out of Britain? My old roommate had it and it was sooo nice but I can't remember the name!

I actually really hated this whole morning/night routine and only washed my face and SOMETIMES put on moisturizer twice a day. Shocking I know...well, that started to change in my last year of high school and now that i'm 20..I finally realize the importance of taking care of your skin.

oops pressed the wrong key. Anyways, i have a very basic routine but I feel that it's sufficient for now. anyways onto the routine. (btw..combo-oily skin in summer and normal-combo in winter due to drying weather; occasional breakouts..usually hormonal/stress pimples..no major acne)

-Moisturizing cleanser in winter ( Kanebo Naive in peach leaves); cleansing foam/gel in summer ( Shiseido pureness foam); or wet facecloth w/ water and scrub on 'late' mornings
sometimes...-Toner.especialy for foaming cleansers that are more drying; currently not using any toner now..heard it's not THAT necessary
-moisturizer: L'oreal Happyderm (contains SPF in case i forget); Biotherm Aquasource at night
-eyecream: Jamieson vitamin E destressing eye cream
-sunblock: neutrogena dry touch oil free; SPF 45
-lipbalm: Carmex on the go; Rosebud salve/Burts bees at home
-hand cream: Vaseline hand & nail cream (cheap and it works!) at home; Bath & Body Works antibacterial hand lotion tossed in bag
-body moisturizer: body shop body butter; sephora whipped body cream (winter); in summer-->Aveeno
-shampoo: every other day...constantly changing shampoos but ALWAYS have a Neutrogena anti-residue clarifying shampoo to use once or twice a month
-deep conditioner: Aussie 3 minute Deep usually; Kerastase Masqueintense once every 2 weeks

Occassionally...
scrub/exfoliate-once to twice a week (Mario Badescu kiwi scrub)
purifying mask- whenever I feel the need LOL (Caudalie purifying masque)
moisture mask?- uhh..again whenever I feel like it (Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Pack)

It helps a lot with blemishes!! Cleared my skin really fast. It's not for everyone though... You have to be certain you are not allergic to aspirin!

Post shower in the morning: St. Ives Black Head Scrub, Pond's dry skin lotion on face and neck
Make-up: Cover Girl foundation on T zone, powder all over face, clinique under eye cover up, clinique mascara and prescriptives mosaic blush. oh, and cherry flavored chapstick.
Night before bed: Dove face wash and Pond's again

I've tried the aspirin mask before and it made my skin really smooth (the texture of the pills is a great exfoliant I suppose!). I also like using Proactiv's acne facial mask on blemishes before bed.

Is anyone else kind of a freak about touching their face? I read an article in Allure about a year ago describing all the bacteria on your hands and how it causes pimples and now I never touch it without washing my hands first:innocent:

i was in my late 20s when i realized that i wasn't taking my foundation off properly. was disgusted that it took me that long to notice...

luvmelots1983,

Kerastase was excellent for my hair! i was freaking out back in October because i thought all the coloring i did was catching up to me. i color it on average every two months for 3 years..sometimes more often like dyeing my hair a month or a few days apart for color corrections etc

After using Kerastase my hair felt better instantly! i got a trim in January, my hairdresser said he was suprised that my hair was in such good condition considering how often i colour.. i guess i fooled him!

My hair is back to normal now because of the shampoo so i can do without the conditioner because the shampoo is enough moisture. I'm considering sticking to only Bain Satin 3 but it is quite pricey in the states!
