both the print and the birks/birkens have been revived...

i watched the video and realized that they revived that one sleeve wrap thing again...
this time in a grey sweater knit...
i think the olive green bondage trousers shown with the wrap seem super cool and very easy to wear, but i'm afraid they will probably be a small fortune if they are real suede...
...

is it just me, or are there hints of dries here???
flowers, bondage pants, gold shiny bit...
it's just a hint, but i feel it in there...
jil sander also did some gold foiling for fall 2013/14- which is really similar to the way it's done here...

i like the black dress with the hat very much---
this seems like a good way to modify one of those great strapless dresses yohji has done and make it easy to just throw on and wear...
plus- i really like the styling of it...

some of these looks- like the last one and the tan fringey one - just make me wonder what people are thinking?!


what happened to the separate lines they started for spring?
is that going forward or what? any word?

no idea about the two lines that they launched this spring.
could be mixed somewhere here but I guess many of the pieces shown this time round are from the said collabo line, from the facts that the number of the looks is less than on usual runways and the show took place at the embassy of italy. almost seems like the whole event was for alcantara.
the print fabrics, the knits (the red dress etc), the gold foiling, the silvery thing used for the last look, these are the collabo stuff for sure.
and I assume the olive pants too are alcantara. still, considering the provided info that most of the pieces from the alcantara line are made to order at least over here, it might not be like the price is very accessible.

yes there are some moments dries crosses my mind. those elements you mentioned and also maybe with the referential time and place in common.

faux leather and suede...
so- yes, i guess the green pants are not genuine suede...

the red dress is interesting...
if it is made from faux suede/leather then i think that is pretty great...
'ribbon weave' items like that are always really nice but they usually aren't very stable...
they usually stretch out/grow and generally lose their shape...
seems like this would be a more stable and durable option...
it holds the red colour very well also abut probably would never fade...

I have not checked yamamoto in a long while. I noticed that his style is less extravagant than it used to be. very refreshing. his line of coats are very trendy!

yes, roses against black ground, that's what they have in common.
but in terms of actual design, I wouldn't say they "look almost identical" honestly. both of them seem to be similar in impression to the black fabric with the floral pattern from the Y's S/S 2003 softgrey posted above. and, to make it clear again, this Y's F/W 2014 collection was done by the design team referring to the archival work of Y's yohji had done.

anyway the Y's rose fabric this time is jacquard from alcantara.
the homme plus one was brocade from a certain japanese textile maker.
but since historically YY and CdG used to entrust their fabrics to the same textile designer/planner, it may still happen that their preference and tendency overlap with each other.
according to someone who was at CdG in those days yohji and rei were using that same fabric source, rei often got cross when she saw some nice fabric on yohji's runway. what she was thinking was like, why that fabric is there for him, not here for me ?
