10 Things You Didn't Know About Zooey Deschanel

:ermm: She's kind of dumb..

The set of New Girl!

It took plenty of effort to make the set of the new Fox sitcom “New Girl” look effortlessly lived-in.

“There are literally truckloads of small stuff in the apartment to make it look crowded,” the show’s production designer, Michael Whetstone, told Flash of the converted Los Angeles factory loft where the character played by quirky Zooey Deschanel moves in with three random male roommates.

“Realistically, if you had three guys living in an apartment, the place would be an absolute mess.” There are no crusty pizza boxes littering the floor but there are oodles of antiques and thrift store finds mixed in with linens from accessible retailers like CB-2.

“You’d have to have a lot of money to rent a loft like this in L.A.,” Whetstone conceded. “But we filled it with stuff the characters would be able to afford, within reason.”

Plan on checking out the “New Girl” premiere tonight? Check out Flash’s exclusive 360 photo and snapshots from the threadbare-chic set.

Zooey Deschanel is redefining what it means to be a modern triple-threat. This L.A.-native is not only a singer and one-third of the trio behind HelloGiggles (an online entertainment site geared toward smart, creative ladies), but she’s also making the move from feature film to television this fall in her new Fox series, New Girl . Penned by Liz Merriweather (who also wrote No Strings Attached), Zooey is sure to convert a whole new audience of girl-crushes with her sunny and funny new show. On the eve of her primetime debut—tune in tomorrow night!—we chatted with the ultra-talented Zooey, and got her to spill her top shopping tips, beauty secrets, and of course, the one piece of clothing she can’t live without.

Refinery29: You are known for your vintage style. Are there any secrets to wearing vintage that you can share?
Zooey Deschanel: “Wear what looks good on you. Also, fabrics have gotten a lot more comfortable in recent years, so new clothes with vintage cuts are also a great option for practicality.”

R29: We love your clean and pretty beauty look—what are your top secrets for easy, gorgeous makeup?
ZD: “Take care of your skin and you won't need too much makeup. Pick eyeshadow colors that contrast with your eye color. For blue eyes, copper and orange are great, green eyes are great in purple or pink, and brown eyes look great in blue and green shadows.”

R29: What's your most-treasured item in your closet?
ZD: “My 1960’s Courreges military coat.”

R29: What inspires your style these days?
ZD: “I get to wear really cute stuff on my show New Girl, so that's always fun and inspiring. We have a really amazing costume designer, Debra McGuire, so I feel very lucky.”

R29: What do you love most about living in L.A.?
ZD: “The climate is very moderate and it's sunny a lot. We have mountains and ocean and urban areas and valleys all in one city. It's wonderful.”

R29: What are the key pieces you find yourself wearing constantly?
ZD: “Band Of Outsiders jackets, Paige jeans, and dresses from Modcloth.com. I also love J.Crew for basics.”

R29: What's your best cheap score of late?
ZD: “I like to buy bathing-suits at the end of summer when they go on sale!”

R29: What are you excited to wear this fall?
ZD: “Bellbottom jeans and Band of Outsiders blazers.”

R29: Who's your older-woman style icon?
ZD: “Diane Keaton.”

R29: You have an awesome new site we're obsessed with! What are some of your other favorite websites you find yourself checking constantly?
ZD: “I like Jezebel, and I am excited for Tavi Gevinson’s new site, Rookie.”

I know she's known for her "quirky" sense of humor and style but I find her terribly annoying. Almost as if she's a trend that happened too late.

Those jeans are bad. Just bad.

Maybe it's because the flare trend ended some time ago. The color of them doesn't go with the rest of the outfit.

yeps, those jeans fit badly and the colour is bad.
but I have never seen her in skinny jeans
so it seems like flare jeans are her `thing´
but she could have picked better pair...
