^^ Oh you're welcome...I really need to get a new scanner- I have dozens and dozens to scan and post- I will too!! :woot::flower: She was really quite a businesswoman and socialite- knew how to package herself to promote her business! (Execpt for the Nazi officer thing, but...)

Scans will be coming soon I promise , I've been at home ill I only have access to a decent scanner at uni.

The dress pictured in post #163 is the same as the one posted in #22

Thanks for all the images Boomer :flower:

Oh, my pleasure...! I have quite a few more here, need to get a minute...
I'm so glad other people are interested in her- I've read all the books and I can't wait for the films- I guess there are three being made right now!! ;)

adoring all the photos! coco was and still is the greatest! can't wait for the movies!

This is one of my favourite photos of her as it's so unlike the image we are used to seeing , or the icon of her if that makes sense it's quite vunerable as well. This is Gabrielle at her happiest , she's at Boy Capel's house. She's stood with a friend of his and he is brandishing the axe in mock jealousy.

ps. Forgot to add I couldn't scan the friend she is stood with sorry...so it ends up looking like he is attacking her haha.

^^ Thank you!! So nice to see her in her younger years, before her short hair flapper days... That crowd was pretty wild by all accounts- wild parties, cross dressing, gay lovers, bed hopping...Bohemian swingers!! Artists and beatniks way ahead of their time!! :woot:;)

It's fascinating I'm just sorry the scans aren't better quality !

(I've paraphrased the text that went with the photo which is a double page the other side shows the rest of audience )Clients were seated first , and then journalists. No hip swinging , no music , no flowers and Chanel would refer to her competitors as la poesie couturiere. Shows were simple because...

"It's because couture is not theatre and fashion is not an art, it's a craft"

That model in #194- What a beautiful face!! :crush: I wonder who she was...

Another favourite Gabrielle sat with her mannequins (she made clothes onto real women not tailor or dressmaker dummys but we're chanel fans we all knew that already ;))

After 1955 Chanel chose personality as well as looks. She is shown here with Ghislaine Arsac , Marie-Helene Anrnaud (:D) , Suzy Parker , Odile De Croy , Paule Rizzo , Mimi d'Arcangues , Nicole Francomme and Paule De Merindol.
