Why do I always find the actual nominations reveal so anti-climatic?
The positives
1. JACKIE WEAVER - she was kind of losing steam there towards the end and I was getting worried for her, but SHE MADE IT!!! My favorite Best Supporting Actress performance of the year. I know she has NO SHOT at winning, but yay for a nod.
2. John Hawkes - I took him out of my predictions at the last minute but I'm really happy he made it too. He didn't really figure into the race until SAG nominations (and that was it for him I believe) so this was a pleasant surprise as well.
Well those are the only positive surprises that I have. I'm glad Natalie, James, Jesse, Colin, Christian, Amy, Melissa, etc got nominated but they were all LOCKS so whatever.
The negatives
1. ANDREW GARFIELD - are you serious right now??? Can't believe they snubbed the best performance of the movie (no disrespect to Jesse) and second best supporting actor performance of the year (behind Bale), that's just foul.
2. Mila Kunis - poor thing, it really looked like she was going to make it for a while there. If it was between her and Jackie Weaver for the last spot, I'm glad latter made it, but still, I'm sad because I don't know if Mila will get this good a chance again.
3. Christopher Nolan - Inception is not even in my top 5 of the year, but what does this guy have to do to get some love? Three nominations from DGA and not ONE Academy nomination for Directing. Plus Inception was ALL ABOUT DIRECTING. Ugh.
4. Ryan Gosling - how the heck do you nominate Michelle Williams and forget about Ryan? The movie was about them and they were equally great in it, I just don't understand one putting her at number one and not him. Second time he gets so close too.
5. Hailee Steinfeld - I'm not upset that she got nominated, I'm ANGRY because she got nominated in the wrong category in the worst category fraud in Oscars history. And had she been placed in the proper category Mila would've made it. UGH!!!!
Finally, The King's Speech is starting to royally (pun intended) piss me off. It was a good movie, but 12 nomination while Black Swan only gets 5? I call a BS (not Black Swan) on that.
