Heyy Everyone, i just was wondering about what people thourght of african braids, you may call them something a little different but you know the platts you get in bali...
Hot or Not?

thank you......

any pics also would be great if you would liek to share?

it's hot if it's a part of your culture. otherwise, it just looks out of place [like on bo derek, or xtina aguilera..]

If you can pull it off, go for it. I knew a girl in high school who got them done when she was down in Jamaica, and she actually looked really cool with them in. I, myself, am just not really into braids.

i did braids on and off for about 13 years... i press my hair now or let it go natural. if you get thm done right, you can look really royal or cute. but you can also get them done really ghetto... and that's when i stopped. :)

I so agree!!!!!!

I like cornrows, not the loose braids, and really it all depends whether you can pull it off or not. Look at dreadlocks, they've been everywhere and it just depends on the person wearing them if they look alright or not.

Well I am half West indian, half Indian, and I enjoy having it done at times. Especially when its hot and your hair easily gets dry with all the heat. Plus having braids is so easy to manage and you don't have to worry about how to style your hair for the day. Plus it lasts for months.:flower:

Sometimes it works for people sometimes it just looks plain weird.

I'm sorry but those are horrible pics. ALL of them look bad and they CAN NOT pull it off. I suggest you get someone who knows what they're doing. You can get braids in many styles. It's all about what works best with your face.

Also, if you're White, I'd be carefull with getting my hair done by someone who thinks your naive. Braids SHOULD NOT cost you $100.

Please....

Braids look so out of place on alot of people. Especially if you use extentions with all kinds of colours like in one of the pics above. I do like cornrows however. It needs to work with your face ;) .

Neo Classic,
i think it will cost $100 if you choose to get hair extentions braided in your own hair or if you are getting cornrows. It takes a long time to get it done right.

If you had read the rest of my post you would seen that I was showing examples of people who CAN'T pull it off.

^Where did you write "these pics show people who can't pull if off"?

Dior, extensions for braids cost a dollar a pack for the extra nice hair it runs from $2-5 a pack. Usually, you might need 3-4 packs depending on the style and the size of your head. Buy them yourself and have someone braid them in. My braids usually cost $30. I use to run a salon, so trust me I know.
