Commerce is effecting fashion not because of its tireless hankering for wearable clothes but because it asks to much of creative minds.
Yes, people who aren't creative often simply don't understand how exhausting it can be.
Inspiration comes (assuming it does!) and then the artist, generally, has to work like a demon to get that thought out of their head and into the world, to their exacting standards.
By 'artist', BTW, I mean someone who actually creates things most others couldn't (not someone like Tracy Emin who calls herself an artist, but wouldn't have the first clue how to create anything artistic) and I include the more inspired fashion designers in that definition.
Creating art is tiring enough - but to have to produce a whole fashion show, multiple times a year, must be a complete nightmare.
Then, just when they've finally finished and desperately need a long rest, to recharge, they then have to, somehow, find the energy to start, all over again, for the next one.
People who just roll out of bed and into a suit (someone else has ironed for them) and drive (or get driven) into work, crunch a few numbers, speak a bit of jargon, have a meeting in a board room and then home, again, simply don't seem to understand.
I'm sure an afternoon on the golf course is more than enough relaxation for them, because their work is, generally, not particularly mentally taxing and most of it can be easily accomplished within a 9 to 5 schedule (and very often, far less).
