Alexander Mcqueen S/S 04 Paris

i really love the clothes from this collection... i am just having a hard time digesting the presentation, even after my third time looking through it.

why not just get real dancers to show the clothes???? the models seem really out of place. :innocent:

and... i am having a hard time with mcqueen using the desperation of the film: they shoot horses, don't they? in the manner that he did.

it seems so out of place to use a film with overwhelming feelings of disenchantment in order to sell clothes to fashion mavens and socialites.

but i guess, the film is about human's as spectacles... and i sure had a laugh looking at these models. :woot: and jane's character is the epitome of self destructive in this film!

that being said... i still really love the clothes in this collection... it is one of my favorite collections so far!!!!
and this is my favorite outfit of the entire s/s season:

Ok...
ONE I will not make an official comment/statement until I see the video for this show
TWO The videos for shows can be seen on Style.com (with Real Player), though this collection's is not available yet
THREE This presentation seems to be one of the least favorites (for my personal taste)
FOUR The dresses ARE REALLY good ..I see infinite selling power on them!
FIVE It seems like he hit new grounds with this collection ... I was in shock with the colors for S/S 03 ... and a lot of my fave collections from him are for S/S
In this one ..it is the presentation and the new sillouette .. it's not new-new, but it's not the usual McQueen ...

Will post more later ...

I love Alexander McQueen and this collection is no exeption. I love his 'different' fashion collection & forms of doing fashion.

it's meant to be silly and ironic, and they orchestrated it that way on purpose. the fact that the cast of models, etc. is a bit carnivalesque....

how do you think that it is ironic? is there really a point to creating a spectacle. to me... a fashion show is already a spectacle...

while i think that the clothes are amazing, mcqueen is just copying an entire film... and using models instead of actors. so? what is the point???? models are models and the fashion business is the fashion business. we all know what is going on when we watch a fashion show... and there is no statement being made, really. mcqueen did sell his name and 51% of his comapny to have better resources for distribution and production.

this collection's presentation just shows me that mcqueen is like every other scenester. they like the same films, reference the same novels, and listen to the same "cool" record all at the same time. what's next, his mccabe and mrs. miller collection?

i think it is annoying when designers rip off costume designers... and are so blatant about it... it takes the mystery away from the clothing themselves. and these theatrical shows fall flat.... and emphasize what, the "ironic" message that a designer can blatantly copy a film? no thanks.

he has done this twice now... but his, the mission collection, was more interesting in its statement because it was more of an influenced collection, not a direct copy of the visuals from the film.

i just think that it is boring, dull, and silly- not in the funny sense of the word- but in the embarassing sense.

i still adore the clothing. but am left wondering why all mcqueen wanted all the fussiness overshadowing the clothing in this presentation????

i was so looking forward to seeing McQueen, but this collectiion somewhat dissapointing...Very original & tasteful presentation, no doubt ( Jeremy Scott & IMOC could learn something). Gorgeous eveningwear, as usual, but for soem reason i  last collections more than this one.

point taken  pearsandapples :flower: i didn't mean to challenge you, i merely stated what i thought of the presentation

i think it's great when an exchange of ideas happen between "fashion designers" and "costume designers"-- it's all part of a great dialogue that keeps the creative world go round and round and round....

:mohawk:

contessa!!! :king:

the fun part of fashion is that we all see things through a different lens. :flower:

and i do agree that the dialogue between fashion designers and costumers is integral to an understanding of style! :D

what is important to me, are the clothes themselves... and this collection is lovely.

my best friend dated this guy who was married to one of lala-land's top costume designers....this woman adores and is influenced by the same designers we all blab about here in tFS. it's clearly seen in her work

McQueen, worked with real dancers for the first part of the show and models just in the second part . He was rehearsing in London.

I dont think this is a literal performance of the theatrical play which was used more like an inspiration. Anyway, fashion shows last a mere 10 to 15 minutes max, he could not present a proper version of any story, even if he wanted to. It was just an idea

 From what I 've seen ,this is the only image I liked,I don't know ,I think it looked a bit like a failed attempt :ermm:

You can now view the video at Vogue Paris and click video. I thought it was GREAT! The models did very well especially Karen Elson & Erin Wasson :woot:

is there something wrong with Eugenia?
i mean she looks like she fell!
poor thing!
but or is she dancing?

I think she is suppose to have that exhausted look. I'm surprised how well the models are acting B)

of course it's on purpose , call it artistic direction, there was an anticlimax towards the end of the 'performance'

Exceptional. This one is really making a statement about the state of the world under the guise of clothing.

Those scraps are impetus for the human spirit!
