Alexander McQueen S/S 10 Paris

 Some of those are insane! Actually they're all insane. I really don't like the ones with the convex front, it's just weird.

But the metallic ones with the buts'n'bolts detail are fantastic.

apart for one shoe ...
all the others propose a sort of prothesis for future human feet.

insane !

The whole collection is like one big twisted biology experiment

:o most of the shoes look hard... but if you look at the top, you can see the models' ankles are protruding a bit and also the side of a foot, slightly..as if the whole shoe is just made of some kind of skin/fabric.

just except the heel and sole

yeah i see what you mean.
you are a couturière, right ? your comment always make me think you are. aren't you ?

In a manner of speaking, yes, ^_^...but not like you think. Certainly I am critical and demanding from a wide criteria for sure. It is like awarding the Michelin to a chef - it isn't enough to be extremely good at one dish, say pizza, you have to have a deep knowledge of the different techniques in cuisine, in understanding different culinary cultures, history, traditions, ingredients, meats, vegetables, fruits, spices, in food preparation, grounding, chopping, in cutting, in mixing flavours, in cooking techniques, grilling, baking, frying, steaming, methods of presentation, etc., and with so much food cooked and tasted in the world, you must invent new tastes and dishes! To me, that's also a real fashion designer - first a competent knowledge of everything about history, about clothes (all materials, cuts, construction, techniques of sewing, prints, colours), an outstanding creativity and inventiveness, then a talent for something extraordinary in 3-dimensional understanding, and finally the elevation of fashion to art. Ultimately, the clothes is extended from the body - I'd pick a Rick Owens jacket over a Chanel jacket anytime because for all the expensive models and flowers at a Chanel show, the insane $$$ into the ads, the RO gives me a silhouette that puts me on a pedestal over most other jacket wearers, including the Chanel, in the room.

I do put McQueen in the league of higher expectations because I do believe he still has talent, unlike Karl Lagerfeld or Galliano.

But in the end, I don't think my criticism is to be heeded, as most of my favourite designers, Margiela, Helmut Lang, Hussein Chalayan, etc., are in trouble or vanished from the business. Also, most of the fabulously rich I've come across are rather crass in their preferences, they go by the latest looks in the latest Vogues...:ninja:

i don't if McQueen produces a size 44 in women shoe ... But if he does, I definitely need to try these on.

the recession just proves us rich people are among the dumbest person in the world.
- except perhaps Warren Buffet .... ^_^ -

Imagine how to walk in those incredible shoes! I was so worrying abt the poor girls when I watched the video.

Beautiful craftsmanship. I like the references too: Lady Gaga, Balenciaga, New Balenciaga, Avatar. I just wanna petition him to be flogged in public for putting those poor girls in those shoes.

I think that's the only way to go, these pieces as they are on the runway...not fit for ready to wear

A lot of them are! The shapes aren't so extreme.

I hope that doesn't mean we're going to get lots of boring silhouettes with those amazing prints. Like Balenciaga did a couple of seasons ago. I think probably not, maybe just toned down a little? I have my eye on some of the dresses, but I love them as they are!

Some of the shoes however, I guess will only ever see editorials.

mind=blown.

i usually stick to the model section of the forum too... but this really blew me away. just incredible. the presentation, the prints, the shoes, the bubble material and grey [shark-like] dresses. to die for

i'm kind of late commenting on this... but i just adore it!
it's the evolution of his past summer collection i feel. less wearable, even more amazing!

ooooh gosh this is wonderfull and frightening in the same time...i love it !

The clothes are really amazing but I thinkt the shoes are hideous.
The prints of the dresses is just wow. Amazing job done but the shoes are just ugly to me.

Wow, the collection look so amazing! I especially love the shiny part that starts in post #113, the last look is wonderful

I really want to share everyone's love for this collection but sadly I can't :( I am not blown away and get a very creepy and unpleasant feeling from it. It's good but I want smth else

I admit this isn't my style but I love everything of this collection... even the insane shoes!

I would love to see the showroom collection...
