Alexander McQueen S/S 10 Paris

According to one of the models who walked this show these shoes are incredibly heavy but surprisingly not too difficult (comparative degree is used here) to walk. However the closed designed shoes and the leather mounted on top will make your feet sweat like pig.

She was wearing and referred to the big fat bootie (has anyone or people from McQueen come up with a scientific name for it?) .

this was amazing! took my breath away..when I was watching I felt like I was the only one watching it in the world!

I absolutely loved it.

Love the reptilian theme.

The makeup and hair makes them look like futuristic dinosaurs.

Love it.

My favorite were the shoes. XD

I would kill for a pair of each of these:

Well if he wants make clothes for aligiens,
he should go away to mars...
because here in earth are a lot of beautiful woman to dress and embellish.:D

And sincerelly this work can be complex, and in a high level way
but i cant find the reason
overall looks look gross and nonsense.

I dont like it sincerelly.
What´s the fact of make something like that?

To get more lines?
to get more covers?
to get more publicity?
Then, he is being egoiste and getting far away of fashion ideals
(or at least what i think should be an ideal):
dress woman and make her beautiful or at least inspire her.

Anyway,
I think there are a lot of good elements to make something good,
but he didnt find the perfect point to make them match.

By the way,
the horrible make up was made already by Nicolas le Cauchois makeup
in his Spring 2002 Couture.
(wich was horrible too)

or perhaps he puts on a more expensive show because he doesn't spend as much on costly advertising campaigns?

point well taken. and believe me, i don't want him to bow out as i'm quite a fan. it's just this level of spectacle strikes me as very out of step with the times and the real economic realities these design houses continue to face. as dizzyingly unexpected as i found the latest michael kors show, i know for a fact he'll sell every single thing he sent down the runway in some form. even when i look at john galliano, i can see through the spectacle and realize there's nothing but accessible party dresses there. when i look at this, my heart races along with the rest of you, i just don't see it translating into things that people actually wear on the streets. and that worries me for the future of mr. mcqueen.

i mean, the shoes on his website are heaven, but except for the daphne guinnesses of the world, who will buy his latest fares? and can that handful sustain his entire business? also, i'd like to see detail on those profitability figures. it's not like they'd say it's unprofitable if they planned to sell, either...:innocent:

I agree with you Mike, sometimes his shows are a bit much these days with alot of expensive clothing that aren't really profitable. And we can't forget that sometimes investors use brands for publicity for other brands, much like how french houses use couture shows as publicity. I mean, we don't often see people, even rich celebrities, wear these kind of clothes. We can't kid ourselves about how talented he is, but I highly doubt he's "too" profitable, especially with his last few collections which were uncomfortably stiff, except for a few suits.... I mean, he's not Gucci, so clients will be judging his designs season after season and decide, unlike Gucci clients who will buy anything Gucci because it's dependable.

I love him still.

He is my favorite designer.

I always feel he is designing for me, even though I can't afford any of the clothes.

I can careless what others say about him, he is amazing at what he does.

He creates art that you can wear on your body.

I love how Mr McQueen has the ingenuity to create something others could never ever conceptualise and bring it to life, in Lee we have a future!

I'm absolutely in love with this show. The whole underwater-futuristic-alien theme left me speachless.

The shoes are insane, really. I don't like the ones with the convex front, but the others are magic. There're some that I really like. Hat off to the models who walked in them.

I loved the clothes. Everything (well, except few pieces). I think they're wearable. I liked the second half more. The watery print work more for me, but I must admit all prints are very captivating. This is my absolute favourite as well as the few last pieces:

I want it! :woot:

As for the hair and make-up - incredible. Goes on very well with whole show. I think this is my favourite show this season.

P.S. Who was the first face?

I think these clothes are great for the purposes of the runway and creating a visual spectacle. However apart from the theater I don't see where or how any of it fits into the wardrobe of non-alien women.

People have different aesthetics, not everyone ascribes to the same conventions of beauty. It may not be for you, but others can appreciate it for it's technical mastery and it's outre imagery, some actually want that.

Kudos to those models who were able to walk in them! I'm sure they were all 7 foot tall! YIKES!

Now, this is design at its best! I love it. Those shoes are incredible. Literally. Gorgeous, I'm in love. Probably one of my favourite collections this season.

It's just the runway show - I'm sure they will have 'normal' heels in stores.

Loved

Thought the whole show was fabulous!

I only wish I could pull off the shoes. :D But I loved the prints and structures of the dresses.

I was curious to see how wearable some of it would be, but I really liked how camilla belle looks in this:

I join those rare few who loved the shoes, would try them in a heatbeat!

This was just magnificent, from the presentation to the clothes, epic!

i dont think it is THAT rare actually!
last thing i've heard they want to auction the shoes (profits would go to "some" charity)
GaGa wears them, Daphne G wears them, BryanBoy craves a pair and the PRs keep getting calls of people who want to buy them as "sculptures"
