Alexander Wang

I wore the teal blue tank to work today from his T line and it was amazing..sooo soft!

^depending on how slim you are! I took an XS in two of the tees and i like the way they sit on me - but i am only about 5'8.

have any men bought stuff from his t line?
im a slim guy,and want to get the boyfriend tee..
usually wear a medium in mens, what size should i get for wang's tees?

If you're slim then I definitely suggest going to S because the T for Men tends to run big.

Has anyone here tried taking their T pieces to the dry cleaners? If so, how did they turn out? The label doesn't say if it is safe or not to do so, but I really want to, as I am tired of hand-washing sooo many pieces each week (I live in this line). TIA for any tips. :flower:

Yes but I found that its too expensive that way and when you live in them like us - its a waste of time. Best thing is to wash it in the gentle cycle with ivory detergent and hang dry rather than tumble dry. That worked pretty well for me.

Took mine to the dry cleaners and had over $600 worth of T tees ruined (even though they promised me they would be hand-washed). They obviously put them in a machine and hung them to dry - holes in the shirts and they were stretched out so badly from being hung wet that they were the size of dresses. Still working on getting reimbursed for that, but please take my advice, and just hand wash them yourself. I honestly don't have the time or the desire to hand wash things, and at only about $5 a shirt, it's super-affordable to have them dry-cleaned, but unfortunately, sometimes I guess you really do just have to do the work yourself. :(

P.S. - I noticed that some of my pieces from the Fall line say "Hand wash or Dry Clean." I no longer trust the dry cleaners (any of them), so do you think it would be okay to use Dryel on those??

I'm not a fan of Mr. Wang. I think his clothing is like USA Today, it's all headlines and no story. Worse still, I maintain that this man is getting away with producing EXTREMELY expensive clothing based on the very ideals that got Marc Jacobs fired from Perry Ellis. I think he's all hype and nothing more. Me no likey. I also think his Spring 2010 is some of the ugliest clothing I have ever seen. Everything about him says "disposable, fast fashion."

I don't think its they DC fault but the brand not considering the customers when it comes to taking care of it. I mean if we were to spend a large sum it should be safe to dry clean it because of the quality...

And yeah I too have hand wash my T stuff too but with my cheap shirts I can have them dry clean if I wanted to and they still look fine.

that leather studded bottom bag is beautiful!!! he is a genious...i've been stopped on the street a couple times because people thought i was him..haha

Oh my god, I'm such an idiot. Bought both of these today for the Christmas party season. Got the white asymetric dress just before it sold out, and got the navy sequin dress in a size 6... coz that's my size... my UK size. Didn't notice that the sizes on Browns were US size, so I've basically ordered it in a 10! I'm usually so good about stuff like that, totally kicking myself now as it'll look like a maxi dress on me :cry::cry:

Hey Jelly, sorry about the delay in replying, I forgot I made that post! I felt such a fool, but I finally managed to track one down. It's a beautiful dress, a bit hard to put on, I found the zip gets caught in the ruching/sequins but it's something you get used to.

i'm sure you received lots of compliments...such a gorgeous dress! bet u look hot in it! :D

omg I should be stopped..I just ordered 2 T shirts from his online shop..on sale for 35!

Looks real to me-the tag looks good and the material and zipper seems nice and substantial. i'm not sure but i have never heard of fake AWang dresses.

Ahh good! Just wondering how that stuff works out, like how do these sellers get all these dresses and then sell them on so cheaply?
Thanks again :flower:

Paris Loves Alexander Wang
By Rebecca Voight 10/13/2011 12:55 PM

The French tend to be several degrees on the snobby side when it comes to American fashion. Levi's, Ralph Lauren, Nike, Adam Kimmel, and resident Rick Owens pass muster, but for the rest, there's a certain chill factor. Which is why the Paris buzz on Alexander Wang, 27, is so unusual.

Wang's sleek, body-conscious, athletically metropolitan chic has been an item at the Printemps since Maria Luisa Poumaillou became the French department store's in-house fashion editor, with her own eponymous shop-in-shop in the middle of the store's designer second floor in 2009. Since then, Wang has proven to be more than a flash in the pan. Printemps will open a mega-corner (420 square feet!) for the American designer in early November, which puts him just a whisper away from Dries and Miu Miu. Not bad for a young designer who launched in 2007.

Paolo de Cesare, Printemps CEO, and Maria Luisa Poumaillou convened a lunch with Wang in one of the store's René Binet-designed coupoles. The luxurious nook with curved walls covered by an Art Nouveau mural was packed to capacity. Garance Doré, Purple's Olivier Zahm, Le Figaro's Virginie Mouzat, jeweler Gaia Repossi, Tine Peduzzi from TL-180, and Wang's Parisian pals nibbled on truffle risotto and took in Printemps's cool, gray view across Paris from on high.

Is Wang about to take the reigns at Christian Dior? He's not confirming or denying the sizzling rumor that tout Paris was whispering post-Fashion Week.

"That's the question of the day, " he says with a long laugh. "I would never say never. If the right opportunity came, where I felt that there was something to say that I couldn't say in my own brand that inspired me, then yes. But right now I'm focused on growing and evolving mine."

We don't imagine that the growing process will take too long. One thing that differentiates Wang from other young designers is speed. He opened his first shop in New York last March and also saw his debut men's collection hit stores. Wang's next move is China. His second store will open early next year in Sanlitun Village, in Beijing's Chaoyang District.

"I fell in love with the space on a trip there last year," says Wang. "It's a great location next to I.T Beijing Market (Comme des Garçons' four-level Dover Street outpost, which opened last December) and Balenciaga. I never imagined Beijing would be our second location, but it feels right. We're not starting in London, or Paris. This has a lot to say about what China has to offer."

When in Paris, Wang says he roams the streets, likes to get lost, and gets by with a few words in French, but he does know where to stay: on avenue Foch at the Paris home of Danielle Steel, the mother of his childhood friend, fellow San Franciscan Victoria Traina. And although he says he doesn't "scout French women per se," Wang does admit he is attracted to them.

"French women dress in an effortless way. I mean, their approach isn't so much based on fashion and mega brands. They're more resourceful. They're into vintage, non-label, high-street things. There's a genuine authenticity here. "

A month after his Spring 2012 show, Wang was still waiting for his first day off. "That's tomorrow. I'm taking four days and I'm going to Lisbon. I've never been there before, and I wanted to go somewhere where I know absolutely nobody. I'm going to the beach."
