Alexander Wang

I like his work, very fresh and comfy, though i don't know it's way too basic, too casual for me.

yes it feels quite fresh but it could just be the way it's styled. i think he's getting more press lately since his collection is finally hitting the stores and he works quite a bit with victoria traina so i'm sure the PR train is finally getting a move on. I think he is moving away from the cashmere oriented pieces into a more full design scope if this makes sense.

does anyone know where you can get it online? there are no stores/stockists near by me and all of the websites i've seen (satine and one other) are already sold out in the pre-orders.

anyone have any ideas?

omg there is a great interview with him in a new magazines premiere issue included with a photoshoot featuring his clothes. the magazine is preen if anyone wants to get it and i will try to scan it tonight. he seems really cool and laidback but goal oriented as well...i like him alot!

I love how he styled the outfits with jazz shoes or dirty tennis sneakers and white ray bans. He's such an innovative designer and has such a fresh perspective and take on things. I also like that he designs his clothes for young girls and want them to dress in a different way.
i love it!! casual cool nonchalant chic. although it has the stella meets chloe feel...the two men looks in the second page look really good. wonder if i can find it in the UK.

i personally can't make any sense of the exorbitant prices of the simple cotton tops and dresses to myself, 295, 395, 495 for simple tees blouses and dresses that look like t-shirts? i ordered the red wind-braker jacket but it is a jacket, everything else? i don't know.

pretty much all of his stuff is 100% cashmere. that's his specialty.

I really like this collection. So wearable and comfy looking. So relaxed, but yet with a chic wibe.

I've loved Alexander Wang's pieces for some time--reminds me a lot of Vince

his show yesterday was so good! here is the review:
NEW YORK, February 3, 2007 – For his second full ready-to-wear show, Alexander Wang focused on a combination of eighties hip-hop and seventies Parisian chic, channeling Run-D.M.C. and YSL simultaneously. As unlikely a mix as those influences are, Wang managed to pull off a modern and polished, not to mention commercially viable, collection.

A dense crowd turned up at an abandoned Hell's Kitchen warehouse to applaud slim cropped-at-the-ankle leather pants with a hint of biker about them, and a silk crepe T-shirt dress studded at the hem. The green matte-paillette shirtdress or the pleated gray silk strapless number would be fun for a party-girl night out, paired with a little fur jacket for Uptown or an olive anorak for Down. Wang, who first made his name with his line of cashmere knits, is off to a strong start.

I completely love his work as well and agree with what you said about wanting young girls to dress differently. It is refreshing. Very "I dont give a ****" while still looking sexy.

my scanners broken but here is a sneak preview of the ed/interview i promised to scan...sorry guys!

Thanks for the scan!

I love the look of some of his items (or it's really good styling) but the prices are very exhorbitant. Then again I haven't seen the pieces in real life, only online :(

I like how casual his pieces are, but I think the whole hype around him is a bit too much, had the styling and set of the SS07 collection presentation been different, say without the Wayfarer-esque sunglasses and the overall hipster feeling, I don't think he'd been nearly as big as he is, but rather just appreciated for the fine clothes..
