Antonin Tron - Designer, Creative Director of Balmain

For those curious about the sort of clothes he makes, here are a few looks from his latest collection, FW'25:

It's a very cliche "Saint Laurent meets Alaia" look, but it seems to mesh well with his clientele. That said, I have a weird feeling that his Balmain will probably lean more into some form of a "jolie madame" archetype with a few nods to Gres and Vionnet.
Gosh these looks are abysmal.
It's giving NYFW designer knocking off Vaccarello YSL...2 years late

This is actually exciting. His work at Atlein is very beautiful, I am excited to see how he interprets and builds upon the Balmain history and even sharing his interpretation of the things that Olivier did during his time at the house.

Now I am wondering where Olivier will pop up now, or if he will take time off.

Listen, it could be worse. We could've had another Philo/The Row fetishist making everything grey and oversized.
Preach ! I just want someone to do glamour. Not Elie Saab glamour.

Maybe Olivier will take a long deserved and needed sabbatical to get in touch with what makes him happy in fashion and life in general. I feel he lost his way.

It's just as bad
he does also the oversized drop shoulders you have it in your looks overview on page 1 of his last atlein collection.

these type of shoulder is a spectrum from the phoebe´s and vacarellos and balenciaga demna´s (copied margiela shoulders) old balmain by decarnin
its all the modern and sexy spectrum designers go for this and stuck in it for years now in all its variations to me it got so cheap already years ago.

why also Blazy versions at BV and now Chanel makes his stuff look old and generic, when Raf pushed it in Prada also a few season ago people hated and say its to balenciaga.

To me it's just as tired as Galliano drag couture tricks at his end years at Dior this is how i see these type of silhouettes...its giving influencer power suit drag !

I say Sashay away.

I really wonder where the obsession with those sort of shoulders on jackets and coats came from. The look obviously seems to be doing well at retail, if almost every designer is doing them.

Yes, I agree. Between the pressures of the house, and even his fireplace explosion which left him with physical scars- he needs to re-center and be in solitude away from CD pressure at a maison. Absolutely feel he lost his way also.

Even as we've watched him, it's not as clear what his identity is, without Balmain, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds.

he sounds like a genius :) ...the base he says of his brand is jersey dresses and then went deeper that season ..exploration lol

how he remains straight is by surfing :-)

I have watched it...it feels as if he spent the whole video saying "2+2=4"...maybe his surfboard could be a better and less generic fit as CD for Balmain.

Damn he is fine asf , hope his designs are as good. Balmain needed a change, Olivier had run his course a long time ago
