Arctic Monkeys

Have to say, The Vaccines were a dismal opening act as they had absolutely no stage presence and all their songs were repetitive.
i think they must be overly influenced by arctic monkeys, who are all of that and more. or less, depending how you look at it.

I think their first and second album are the high points and I have to admit that I don't really like their newer stuff as it sounds so repetitive. That was my main problem with the Arctic Monkeys; they didn't "own" the venue like I expected them to. At times they were really bland and if it wasn't for my friends I would not have considered the gig that great.

the monkeys need to tighten up. to me, the newest album and the videos are so disappointing compared to the first three.

Agree, they're supposed to be taking a break, I think it's needed... so Alex can find his identity again and stop trying to be Josh Homme :innocent:

I'm convinced that when (not if, when) I meet Alex Turner he'll fall madly in love with me and we'll get married and live happily ever after with one or two very attractive children.
Anyway, yeah, I really love the Arctic Monkeys. I've seen them live 7 times and I'm going to see them in Newcastle this Saturday (eeeeek!!!!), and on my birthday (in February) I'm going to see them in Paris. So stoked for that — it's going to be a blast, I'm sure... in the prettiest city in the world, drooling over the prettiest guy in the world with my girlfriends! Oh wow. I can't wait.
I love all of the albums. If I were to put them in order of preference, with my favourite first, it would be this: WPSIATWIN, Suck it and See, Favourite Worst Nightmare and then Humbug. My ex always loved Humbug the most... maybe that's why our relationship didn't work out!

Though there are certain disappointing aspects of the last album and tour in general, I've liked almost all of the B-sides they're releasing. :) They seem like the little gift to fans that they weren't allowed on the actual album. Though, they all seem to have similar sounds.
Here's the new video:

R U Mine?

Funny how Alex puts his new girlfriends into his videos. ;)

Over them, it sounds like a bad Queens of the Stone Age imitation.

Would like to see a picture of Alex's tattoo.

I know I'm going to sound like an idiot, but I think they should all just forget they're famous, move back to Sheffield in a tiny little flat together and get back to writing honest, poetic, witty and wonderful music. They have improved since Humbug though

^ I know what you mean, they have certainly let fame go to their heads. But good on them I guess, they worked really hard for it and I know Humbug and Suck It And See didn't receive as great a reviews as the first two albums but they're still good, I think. Their music has matured but by doing so, has lost a bit of the charm and cheek that they were known for...I think that makes sense? I still love them loads though.

"r u mine?" is divine. i think it's their best song since anything on "humbug." the video, not so much.

I'm with you, although i do actually quite like 'suck it and see'. Also please change your hair Alex!

I'm laughing inside of me at the irony of this song, these are exactly the lyrics of my life right now...

Kind of like the song too. ^_^

So psyched for this. Glad to see they included R U Mine. Such a great song. The John Cooper Clarke interpretation should be interesting.
