Why is everyone acting like giving Kelsey compensation is somehow taking away the prizes that Amanda had? They were very good friends on the show, they differed by three votes, and Amanda gets more prizes anyway.... it's not like giving Kelsey money or a trip to NY is bad for Amanda at all! I think she'd feel a lot more horrible if Kelsey DIDN'T get compensated. And the double cover is a really good idea, it will make everyone happy. The viewers (and therefore the network), the slighted model and the editor of Harper's.

Ok there is one thing that i really didn't understand - in the interview the woman from HB (Edwina something) said they had already given Kelsey's cover for printing. When exactly did they do that and why? Isn't it supposed to be AFTER the announcement? Or did she make a call in the 45sec when Kelsey was the winner?

I don't think anyone doesn't thinks it's fair to give her the money and the NY trip. I just think it's not fair to give her the cover, cause it takes away the exclusiveness of the price. And that's why I feel bad for Amanda about this. Of course I don't know how Amanda feels about it...

And about that 3 votes, if you have a photo finish in any sports you wouldn't say "ahh come on, it's been so close. You'll all be the winner!" right!?

Well its seems with this Kelsey exposure it definitely overshadowed Amanda. Even Miranda Kerr on her Kora facebook praised Kelsey. Both are very commercial and can be successful in Australia...

ETA judging from the Pricillas website it seems both have gone to NY...

I saw the clip and found it a little fishy too. I mean Sarah's been quite a good host all season, I found it weird she'd mess up at the finale. Also I found her admission of her faux pas disingenuous. What I found more strange was they allowed Kelsey to almost finish her speech before they "corrected" themselves. I'm not sure if anyone noticed that Amanda's cover was up while Kelsey was speaking?

If the shoe was on the other foot, I wonder how quickly we would have heard how it was unfair that Kelsey had to share her prizes with Amanda. Gathering from the asinine comments on the HB site and elsewhere, I imagine it would have been very quick.

Any one of those things would have been compensation enough, but Kelsey really is getting something of a winner's package. Her compensation seems to vastly outweight the "slight" that was done to her.

I do not believe that "three votes" story. Especially not coming from someone with an obvious agenda and especially when she said in the same breath that she wouldn't let the actual winner (i.e., the girl with the most votes) know that she won in order to further said agenda. Shame on her for even spreading that nonsense.

I've always believed that the sponsors should play a role in determining the winner, but the show can't be held hostage to them. HB shouldn't have any more say than the agencies that will represent the winner long after HB has moved on to another cover girl or any other sponsors that will use the model. Which is why their bellyaching has left a bad impression on me.

At least Kirstie Clements was angered based on principle (she did not want to reward a bully). She was not simply peeved that her favourite didn't win, then went to certain lengths to get her way anyhow by capitalizing on the whole mess that she was supposedly angered about in the first place.

Do you know whose son she is married to? One of the most powerful men in the world, and THE most powerful man in the media industry. There is absolutey no way they - the family - would ever let her make a fool of herself on tv like that. I don't care how much PR the blunder created.

Exactly... Sarah Murdoch's father-in-law owns 25% of Foxtel. They will NOT be stepping on her toes. And if you've seen any movies Sarah Murdoch has been in (when she was Sarah O'Hare), you would know she's not that good of an actress - watch Head Over Heels, or even her cameo on Friends. She can't act!

Also if Kelsey didn't get anything, the chorus of 'poor Kelsey' will outshadow Amanda's win. And have a look at the HB website - so many people were on and on about wanting a Kelsey cover, so there's obviously a market there.

Standard practice - they prepare three different blog postings at 4pm that afternoon and then when you hit 'publish', the time it appears is the time of creation, rather than time of publication.
