Baby Phat S/S 07 NYC

Why did I open this thread..?! I was about to go to bed.. now I'll be having trouble falling asleep.. those GRILLS!.. :o :ninja:

Oh come on, it's not that serious! I'm sure Kimora was only tongue-in-cheek with the grills. it all about creating a 'buzz' over her collection. Its artistic props used in a similiar fashion like Alexander McQueen is with his collection.

You gotta love Fashion!

Grilllllzzzz arent going to create a positive buzz for this collection, espcially since she does not design anything. I dont thkn there can be a comparison to tht of Alexander Mcqueen shows where there is an artistic effort into te outcome of the props and show.

A lot of props from various fashion shows don't create a "positive buzz" for a particular collection. Do I need to mention names?

Anyway, art is always in the eye of the beholder (as if you didn't know). The history of fashion was and is and will continue to be "in the eye of the beholder." Now, I'm comparing Kimora's Baby Phat collection use of props to Alexander McQueen. I'm not comparing the 2 designers because that would be comparing apples to oranges. I don't think you can minimize the use of a prop of a particular designer because youdo not care of the designer or show. Basically, a prop is a prop!

I'm not a major fan of all of Kimora's fashion sense, just as much as the next designer e.g., Marc Jacobs. But Kimora's Baby Phat is a established line and she does have little impact in the the global fashion world...like it or not. ;)

are you seriously comparing baby phat to mcqueen?! that's, like, sacriledge

you're right about creating buzz... but with mcqueen, his clothes are amazing. there's nothing to buzz about with baby phat

Not only are the grills bad (they make the models look like 13 year old, braces wearing thugs), but the clothes are horrific!!!!....She should be deported to L.A. immediately!!!!!

Umm...no, I wasn't comparing the two. But hey, we're all critics with those who are successful.

I seriously think you are the only person on tFs that expected more from Baby Phat... we expected bad, yes, but grillz bad? Not so much.

The grillz so ill fitting for the collection... the clothes may have no concept, but they were all light and airy, and grillz would have looked much more in place at, say, her S/S 06 show.

When she met with her design team for this show, WHY DIDN"T SOMEONE SAY...ERHH KIMORA, DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD RETHINK THIS???

lol...Emina C. looks GHETTO!!!!!!!

^^Well, there's room for everything else in fashion so why not Ghetto? Some of her designs are urban related but certainly not all.

I think someone coined the word "Ghetto Fab".

I dont mind "urban" Id say my style is rather urbanish, but when I THINK mainstream urban I think of denim jumpsuits with BIG 8k gold plated doorknocker earrings and Timberlands. No, sorry. Ghetto fab is something ghetto people came up with in order to vindicate thier tastelessness. Sorry. There is no fabulousness in a pale pink Escalade w/ spinners or a diamond Hello Kitty choker.

HILARIOUS!!! This isn't fashion. This is slapstick comedy.

Was "Why You All In My Grill?" playing in the background during this? If it wasn't. It should have been.

Too bad some of my favorite girls were a part of this.

too ghetto for my taste..and i like a little ghetto sometimes..but kimora goes out of her way to make things ghetto.

Ghetto is passe. Bling bling culture is over and it has become what it always was, the epitome of bad taste. There is nothing appealing about this entire collection. Its just trash. All around trash and I don't think it appeals to anyone. Kimora needs to go back to what she does best, nothing. Its aggravating that there are really talented people who don't get to show their stuff during fashion week and yet Kimora who is entirely without merit gets a big show and press attention.
