Balenciaga blacklists Vogue Paris?

I went through old VPs today and noticed that in ADN De La Mode from August 2009, that famous I&V studio editorial, they use a very gorgeous camel Balenciaga coat. I'm sure MaxMara would like to get their hands on that thing, I'm mean that's what people go for at MaxMara, don't they?

Maybe that was the coat in question...

I think my theory has 0,001% possibility of being true, but imagine if VP had copy more then a balenciaga coat? For example the style of a pants.... (I admit... it's very far-fetched....)

I don't think you can compare those clothes like that and say that one stole the idea from another, because those kind of jeans are everywhere since forever.

I don't believe that Carine would help a desginer to copy another one. She doesn't look like that kind of person at all. And she probably has a high idea of fashion, that would be just so low.

I hope it's not true, because I really like Carine.
Carine Roitfeld for President.
yeah, go Carine.

I want to know what's jak&jil is talking on his blog :woot: Dramaaaa. Or not at all, maybe.

Yes like I said my theory is very unsatisfactory and this "isabel marant look" come probably more from Emanuelle Alt who wear her jeans in this way from some seasons now..

"For all we know Ghesquiere got upset because Carine tagged and refused to remove unflattering photos of him on Facebook. Some people are fussy about that stuff."
I love nymag.com :lol::heart:

So curious about jak&jill's tweet!

Ghesquiere himself once did a stitch-for-stitch ripoff of a Kaisik Wong patchwork dress (never mind that the designer is dead, it's still design plagiarism), I guess it sucks when you're the one it's happening to.

OR...

karma is a b*tch. ^_^

though, he's my fave designer, i never loved someone's designs so much in my life.

^assuming that this rumour is even true, that is! I wonder what jakandjil's tweet news was, but I guess we'll find out soon enough if it had anything to do with this..

I always thought Carine only has fake facebook accounts? :o

MMA, thanks so much for giving us the Jak and Jil tidbit! Now I MUST know what Tommy was talking about!!!!!! The way he makes it sound, Anna and Carine will switch places, McQueen and YSL will come back from the dead, and Gemma Ward will be on the cover of every Vogue the rest of the year! I'm going to be really annoyed when it ends up being something like some new model being cast for a Fall campaign ! We shall know soon though! He said the next couple of days.

If it is in any way related to this situation, then there are many drastic possibilities indeed. I HIGHLY doubt the MaxMara coat story is true, but if it is, something like that could cost Carine her job. And then I would cry and mourn for years on end and never leave my house...I can't even bare to think about it !

I'm thinking that maybe that Jak&Jil tidbit might be about the big shift at the three big NY agencies and the rumour that Supreme might close... That's quite something as well.

I keep seeing pictures of her in Paris with Jonathan Newhouse. I think she's good

^! Phew!!!! Thank you Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!!!!

And irulan, that would make sense :). I am not too obsessed with modeling politics to think that is earth-shattering though !

I don't believe this at all. First off Max Mara's atelier is in Italy, Balenciaga's in Paris. No way in heck can that coat go to Italy and back without Balenciaga demanding it's where abouts. Secondly no one lends out samples for 24 hours. That's crazy. A fashion closet needs time to get the samples, check them in, tell the editor they have arrived, and then the editor looks over the samples, and then 92% of the time on a different day the editor shoots the samples. A fashion house or pr firm is lucky to get clothes back in a week. Balenciaga has the clout to demand three days, but a day, it's just ludicrous. You can't do a high budget on location shoot with 24 hour samples, and most Vogue Paris shoots are that way. Lastly I highly doubt Carine would personally send the coat, especially a sample. If she really wanted to give Max Mara a Balenciaga coat it wouldn't be a piece that has to be returned to Balenciaga. Especially if Max Mara wants to truly study the piece they would take it apart.

The most I could get out of this rumor is an intern (cause they return garments, not editors) accidentally put a Balenciaga coat in the wrong bag, and Max Mara got it. Obviously Balenciaga would be pissed that their coat went missing. However these mistakes happen all the time and it's nothing to ban a magazine over.

edit: My money goes towards the Sauve rumor. However, I'll doubt anyone except VP and Balenciaga will ever get more details than what has already been said.

oh i agree with you!
you can't send the coat from france to italy, deconstruct it, copy it and send it back.
and we have yet to see the images of the alleged copied coat.
my money is on the intern theory. simple explanations are often the correct ones and lapsus like putting a coat into a wrong bag could happen to any1, especially a freaked/nervous intern at vogue.

brands/designers use trend forecasting agencies and pay around 250 000 $ a year for reports. thats why we suddenly see purple, and capri pants or ................ on catwalks.

it's been 2 days already...where is that jaw dropping O.M.G tommy ton tweet about...?

Paris and Milan are really not far .... It's 1.30hrs flight ....
And the process you described about samples is the normal process ...
 .... but you can go to the showroom for one piece (if it's available) and give it back on the same day, if you are in Paris - that's definitely sure !!!!!.

you can do the Paris > Milan item sending in one day thanks to FEDEX/UPS/DHL Express services or even by yourself ....

so this story might be true ...
but i'm happy to read Roitfeld consult (or consulted - the journalist is not even sure. not very professional, in the end) for Max Mara ... I was so sure something new and fresh was happening overthere ....

and what's this thing jak & jil is talking about ?????
:o
