Balenciaga blacklists Vogue Paris?

Being talked about on TFS is hardly the spotlight.

But I know for fact that Nicholas sends the collection over to NY and has Anna preview it and give feedback before he shows it in Paris. This is done every season.

Anna's power in the industry is topped only by the owners of the huge conglomerates that employ the designers she consults for. They sell the clothes, they buy the ads, they are ultimately the ones that pay Anna's salary and keep her where she is. And they know that she has an eye for talent and they will pay attention when something/someone catches her eye.

The situation with Carine and Balenciaga is funny to say the least. If it really is the Max Mara coat thing then that is just mortifying. She'd have to know better...but people get greedy so you never know. Who knows what is really is, who cares? It's excting to think that a major luxury brand might set of a chain and get other folks thinking that they maybe don't need to advertise...

The 60 minutes interview where Morley Safer & Anna go to Balenciaga & Nicolas says..
Cool thanks I'll check that out.

it's Virginia Smith saying it. I think the lines go something like "Anna spoke to miss Prada on your behalf" and in comes Anna and says that they thought "the fabrics were so heavy you couldn't move" and I can't remember if before of after that, Virginia explained that they "really pushed" to change to a "degradé fabric that is silk and mohair, as opposed to the heavy wool and mohair"

to me it's one of the biggest examples of how far Anna's power reaches.
Oh now I know what scene you mean. I actually enjoy the bits with Grace more than Anna (whoops). Overall it's a great doco.

Why? What's the point. Call me naive or whatever but shouldn't designers present what they want and then it can be changed with fabrics or cuts later for the stores/clients/editorals etc. I'd rather sit there and be surprised than know what's coming.

^Perhaps she gives advise on how his collection can translate into retail profit? I bought one of the floral dresses from the ss 2008 collection, not at all like the runway dress material which looked like styrofoam or whatever...

^^that would make sense, as most retailers place their others weeks before the shows. it seems pretty much everyone sitting there has already seen the collection before the actual day of the show (retailers, editors, critics...)
too bad they are not leaving some space for us, no? :judge:

buyers don't get to see the actual runway collection before the show...they order the precollection (prefall or resort/cruise) before the runway show but they can only order the runway part a few days after the show

actually, not a lot of people get to see runway collections before the show, I think Anna is one of the very few.

Editors and journalists are usually the ones who "preview" the collection before hand to ask the designer for the concept, inspiration, trend, fabrics, etc etc.

Note the word "preview". This can mean just looking at sketches, sampling fabrics, or just talking to the designer.

Very few actually advice the designers about their collections. Anna is perhaps one of those very few who do.

Ok, so what I get of the latest posts is that Anna's influence in the industry is, if not visible in the most obvious way, very palpable. No doubts about that now.

But I still I'm not getting why Anna might be involved in this... Something shady that would harm Carine.

Sorry for sounding to insisting, it's just that I can't figure out this.

what's the truth in the end ??

and what was that Jak&Jil rumors about, plz ?

So much will of transparencies and in the end all we've got are rumors, so what's the truth ?

Balenciaga isn't featured in the vogue.fr Paris shows ....

* sorry if i'm late and lame, but i've been kind of away from fashion internet for 3 weeks ...

^ Don't even bother asking, we'll probably never find out. The fashion industry is very dismissive and hush-hush on gossip.

I think long story short was that Ricardo Tisci made up some sort of joke about Alexander Wang coming to Givenchy to replace him, and Tommy Ton believed it. Something like that, I believe.

I just saw the Vogue Collections ( with all the catwalk pictures ) and there is no Balenciaga in the magazine... quite shocking:shock:

^ I agree. But damn I thought there was an update lol. This needs to be over please.

Wow, that's really surprising! To not include such a collection! This feud is ridiculous and at this point, very unprofessional!

Is it likely that VP will be at this season's Balenciaga show?

^^but these things never last forever, right?
other editors have been banned from shows at times... i wonder how much this will last
