^ a trunk show is when samples from the collection arrive at, say, barney's before the season starts...you can try them on and pre-order some stuff..sometimes the designer is there..usually there is a representative.

today is the first day of the trunk show. I called and got prices for the items I liked...I posted pics and prices on my blog. take a look if you are curious...there was this gorgeous dress....and it costs $15,000......gee...

yes. in the NYC store. I didn't go though. Just called and found out the price. To be honest with you, I'm a little disappointed because they seem to be more over priced than the SS06 collection. Maybe it's difficult to make sure the plaids are totally symmetrical?

I got a call about the trunk show too, wish I could go. Thanks for the prices on your blog The material on the 15k dress seems gorgeous and very intresting. I feel like I want something from the collection but more sure what. Maybe one of those skirts or if not then a jacket.

After looking at this collection again, there are a few pieces that i like..although i don't love it as much as the spring collection, i thought that all of these were very nice

Hi Caffeine - I just looked on your blog at the prices for some of the Balenciaga pieces. However, I find that although Balenciaga prices are steep they are in line with prices from Marc Jacobs and Chloe. I wish they did a trunk show here in Paris it's so nice to get a feel for the collection. I am loving that look on Hana but am curious to know what the material is on her coat - it looks kind of horse blanket...

I didn't ask for the coat info. but it looks like some wool with thick linings...no? the surface looks like wool to me, and the entire collection is wool. I'm sure the store will have more info. though.

it feels kind of stupid to me to pay half price on two orders without even receiving a thing yet

I might try giving the New York boutique a call sometime this week to check the prices on the coat. I wouldn't even bother calling my local store - they wouldn't have a clue so far in advance.

I must say I am getting so TIRED - TIRED - TIRED (not v. patient) of waiting for the Spring/Summer catwalk pieces to come in. I've already blown a load of money on a Chanel jacket this season and have also picked up a darling cropped jacket by Ann Valerie Hash. I am not so sure about the Balenciagas now ... I know they're very different but I need to spend my money on something other than jackets. That said I am definitely still very much wanting the vest tops with the pearls.

sorry I didn't get more information other than "special fabric made for Balenciaga" at least my SA didn't know more about it...it looks like wool/silk to me...
