Balmain Mens F/W 09.10 Paris

^ I don't think anyone hates it because it's horrible looking. I think the general consensus is that this stuff is so basic and uninspired that it doesn't belong on a runway.

There isn't any design present whatsoever. The jackets aren't interesting and certainly don't look like they cost as much as they probably will. The t shirts are just that, t shirts. And no matter how many little extra seams you put into the leg of a pair of jeans, they are still jeans and shouldn't be the focus of a Paris fashion collection.

The fact that this is Balmain, and the prices are bound to be ridiculous only makes this pathetic display of lazy styling even more offensive.

Well, the comments that read "hideous" and "so bad, terrible" were what I was referring to...And you just reiterated what I already said, which is that the clothes are boring and uninspired

balmain is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo over rated with their insanely priced jeans .

The problem is there's nothing special about it. I mean you could buy very similar jeans, coats etc - probably at a relatively lower price - and could style the whole look on your own.

^is that a problem? I think it's great that the style and clothes are simple. I would of course not buy those things, but it's easy -like you say- to style it yourself.

Yes, actually it's not a good thing. I'm not saying every pieces should be recognizable but in this case everything is too simple. (Sophistication is another issue...) This collection lacks of that little extra that would make me want to buy those clothes so bad.
All in all I hope it gets better...

I expected something that could be easly translated from the womanwears collection' i dont see major references... i dont see anything good

i guess many of us expected some sort of "new-dior-homme" and this is basically...
decarnin's closet for sale!!

Someone had to present a collection more devoid of content than Balmain (women) and he was just the person to do it.

Does anyone know the price?
Balmain female collection is extremely high....

But even the price is well taken,I won't buy it...just not my cup if tea..

is this collection actually being produced? is it carried in the paris boutique? do retailers actually sell this stuff?

while i'm definitely a fan of his work on the womens' side, i'm wholly confused about this collection. who exactly is the balmain menswear customer? to whom is this meant to appeal???

while i'm not understanding the excitement on the men's side, the pricepoints aren't unusual for designer wear. leather jackets CERTAINLY go for more than that -- the balenciaga bomber went for $3k+ six years ago. the teeshirt price is a bit high but not unheard of. the jeans are kind of high, but tom ford jeans go for $1,000/pop as well.

does luisaviaroma.com go on sale? i'm suspecting that these designs won't sell out at regular price.

the thing with this collection is that the presentation looked absolutely ordinary... but then you see them styled in a certain manner in editorials and such and you really end up thinking that they do have something special.
the jeans i don't like so much, hoods are not my thing, but there ARE some lovely cut jackets that i love!
i wish he had done something bigger with this. like some presentation of reworked slimane-ish attitude, more on the 'luxe' side, extravagant kind of like his womenswear is with disco babe and eurotrash attitude... it's best when you are decided to say you hate it, yet you're still terribly attracted to it.
i hope to see some of this in the Paris store this summer :) maybe just to take a look :p
