Boho is out, Beatnik is back

I have always incorporated some beatnik style into my personal style. I suppose I have done it in a mod/punk kind of way. It sucks when a style you like gets mass-marketed/produced b/c it loses its appeal...who wants to wear a style that is being promoted at Wal-Mart?
I figure if you have a solid personal style, even if it becomes mass-produced it will still be yours. Those who are wearing a style just to follow a trend will never get it right anyway.

I don't think that the Olsen style are boho, how are wearing 10 scarves is boho, Boho is: Brigitte Bardo, Francoise Hardy, Twiggy, Marianne Faithful, Edie, the mamas and the papas, Sienna Miller when she was unkown to most of the world The thing is that it's not the boho of the 60's and 70's that got us tired and annoyed but it's the boho of ''2005'' that's getting tired, people have turn the true definition of boho upside down, it's kinda sad....

Isn't "boho" a 2005 definition? So which are the 2005's boho features and which are 60's?

It won't be a plague like boho though. Not unless places like Abercrombie and American Eagle find some way to market it.
ooh my big 100th post! yes! Well I work at Abercrombie (i know, i know) and i seriously doubt we'll be able to sell this whole 60's mod look to our demographic. We pretty much dont change our look, just give it some touch ups to match the modern trends, like this summer we did alot of bejewled flowing tops for the whole boho thing, but when I worked at the abercrombie in SC, we couldnt sell our superskinny straight dark denim to save our lives, so I dont see this catching on in our market. I swear our customers are dumbshit.

boo hoo, my bohochic is turning 60s, what to do, what to do, my my my.
ill wear something else!

But the funny thing by looking the website above is the it's right: when the movies gonna come out, everybody will starts dressing like edie

Edie-Trends

Ya...everyone IS dressing like Edie...WWD is even hyping up this look because of that movie...I feel like trends are going so fast these days. Everyone is all trend happy! Trends last a year now, instead of a decade.

boho

I don't know....I've seen boho for about a whole year now and it's just starting to go away!

I'm honestly not a person who acts like the world is ending when something they like becomes popular because oh noes, they won't be unique anymore. However I'm going to be a hypocrite here and say I will be really sad if the 60's mod/Edie Sedgwick look becomes a used and abused trend.

Uniform

Well put!!! It's sad that any cool styles become so oversaturated. You can't help but start not really liking them simply because you are just sick of seeing the same thing over and over...it's like everyone is wearing the same uniform.

This is funny, one guy with whom I talked to in a (gay) club in London was dressed all beatnik-style (with black sleek hair and all).
Too bad I don't have a pic.

In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,Mike Tv asks "Who would want a beard?" and Willie Wonka says "Well, beatniks for one."

YEs!!!! Thank you! about time... i noticed kate moss and sienna miller switch and now gradually everyone is.. I have made all my pants straight at the end part. !!
