I really like the jewellery that they have, and some of the saris are gorgeous. I think that the ethnic groups from that region are some of the most beautiful in the world.

i love bollywood and indian fashion as well.
i bought a sari this summer and I am still looking for an event to finally wear it....
tonight we will have the first time a bollywood movie in german tv and i am so excited about it.....
indian style is just color and beautyful decoration and wonderful jewelry - its so fantastic.......

I had some links posted here during the new server installation but somehow they got lost.

here are two links i still remember:

eShakti

Benzer  (breathtaking!!!)

I'll post some pics of the wedding when I get back in Jan. The bride's saree is covered in swarovski crystals, it sounds fantastic.

I really like them but think I might look slightly ridiculous in a saree (being blonde and fair skinned)

I think you'd look nice.

Indian clothing does give an exotic look. I have heard friends go ga ga when they see a women in a sari..... The suits in Devdas movie were fantastic. Most of them were hand embroideried ones. Do you know about 200 man hours might have put in for each one of them?

Although I'm rather late to this topic, here are a couple of pictures I've liked. :crush:

i love indian style i remember going to london and seeing bollywood dreams and the outfits were so beautiful  i would love a pair of indian beaded slippers^_^

I have loads of pics of Shahrukh so I'll find some with his female co-stars. Matthew Williamson is incredibly inspired by Bollywood-the pashminas and bangles he uses are so common in India. Anyway here are some pics from Veer-Zaara. The imagery and the embroidery is so beautiful. It's a very new film but very Old Bollywood. This is Priety Zinta-my favourite actress-she looks stunning in this film-I was really inspired by it.

if I had pierced my nose, I'd wear a huge gold ring like this

so seriously, is it okay to wear bindis and henna tattoos again?

There are various Indian magazines, available in the UK from WHSmith. One: AsianWoman, Asiana. there are few more but I think theyre not as good.
If you want cheap Indian material, suits, jewellery, head to Leicester(Belgrave Road; Buxton Street, Blackburn's Whally Range(SP?); Birmingham or London(Green Street, Southall). Actually anywhere which has a large amount of South Asians residing.
Those Indian beaded slippers you see in high street stores, theyre so much cheaper from the Indian stores. BUt one downside: they HURT so much! Indian style jewelly are more expensive in High Street stores.

And as for those suits and jewellery from Devdas, they may be extravagant but noone wears those types of clothes anymore. Atleast not in the UK(except brides and possibly a few individuals). They are very traditional clothes.

Bindis...for occasions. Not the red ones though you can get different styles. Henna is IN. My friend is a henna tatooist so I have it done for free:D

Indian Bollywood style

I am just wondering, is anyone else excited to see that the Indian fashion industry is growing? I personally LOVE their style and their traditional outfits and the use of color, I can't wait to see more. I think that there is a lot of potential there at the moment.:p

In terms of Indian I think there is a lean toward the whole Colonial Indian thing when the British controlled India. The sensuous / richness of this time combined with the extravagance of Bollywood I think will be very popular. So yes I am excited too!
