Shoe trends F/W 05.06

yup, but these are all fall winterish this year... i personally would like to see more flats continuing ss 06.. what u guys think? are we seing more color or pale pastels next yr ??

pales will definetly be there , so will strong/classic colours
.. its not as if there will be just one trend for shoes, it always works with trend-stories, so anything could work thornby

i'm in love with a pair of black velvet roundtoe pumps i bought recently
wear them with evrythn & they're not too high 3&1/2 inches !
recently saw the most gorgeous t-bars w/chunky heel in zara
the high street is definitely picking up on all these trends . .

Thornby, I don't see flats being over ... I would expect to see them continuing into spring and beyond. Even if they *were* over they'd continue into spring :P I know I am often reluctant to change a shoe silhouette that I feel has been working for me, and I think other women are the same. So shoes seem to evolve sloooowly ...

Saw a gorgeous pair of heels from the Lulu Guinness a/w05 collection today. They were velvet, peacock feather print with a peep toe. The cut is my favourite style, so I have to have them really

Yeap, you're right lena. but is there any clear indication as to the theme like this yr its all 40s or boho.. lots of platform from wedges to platform mocs like the ysl shoe. what about next yr?? Like for mens shows have a pale , cleansing palette.. lots of gray, reds, camel and more distressed soft leathers... how bout for girls .. icy blues?? what you guys think is the cutting trend next yr???

:D

so true :flower:

I want shoes that make you fly... when's someone gonna design those.

Preferrably in a sensible heel.

Thornby, you're asking about twists on the flat ... I think the square toe hasn't gone nearly as far as it should--I hope to see more of that. Maybe some nubuck and suede to continue the textural trend, maybe embroidery. The icy colors you guys have been talking about sound good to me ... Possibly tortoise shell (this would work well with a more subdued mood continuing into spring--say on black linen), shell, mother of pearl ...

My theory here is that girls love embellishment and aren't ready to give it up just yet. Look at chandeliers--literally back by popular demand. And with escalating prices, designers/manufacturers/retailers/etc. still need something to point to to justify prices. So I say shoes and everything else will continue to be "interesting."

On the same theory that shoes are slow to change, should still be seeing exotics. Wedge continue and probably pick up steam since it's more of a summery shape (IMHO), chunkier heel continue ... With the upswing of 40s shapes in clothes, shouldn't we be seeing more shoes to match?

So how do you predict a trend in shoes? Just gauge what has been popular for too long, and what might compliment where the fashion is headed? Interesting..

I think "sailing shoes" will be a "trend" next year for all preppy guys.

yeah i see that too... a sperry-topsider redux.. cool cool. .. thanks fashionista.... so 40s is still up for summer next yr ... coolio..

Hey ... I'm speculating ... my opinion is worth every bit of what you paid for it :P

fashionista, r u on the shoe industry??? black linen as what ? u mean tortoise shell as heel/ mother of pearl??

Unfortunately cowboy boots are still around but less coloured ones and more brown.

Shoe trend moves slower than clothes from what I understand. This spring/summer there was alot of brown clothes but not alot in the way of brown shoes yet autumn/winter is all about the browns.

Also I think what predicts change in the shoe trend is what the customers get bord of. Pointed toes have been around a while and not alot of people are still wearing them as they are simply uncomfortable so A/W has moved in the round toe direction. Thats my thoughts anyway.
I love round toes, so cute!

Cowboy boots are over...out...finito!!!!!!!!!! Flats are still in but in different designs and leather boots are very stylish!

Hi, thornby, nope, I work in high-tech. Took some fashion classes as electives in college ... it's a hobby for me, although I did do a bit of fashion writing a long time ago.

I meant black linen for the shoe ... I was thinking a tortoise shell ornament, like a buckle type thing, but I really like the idea of a tortoise heel. Maybe with a little peep toe? Or a slide. A retro tortoise Lucite bag to go with would be very cool ...
