Thigh High / Over the Knee Boots

When I see those pictures of short dresses and skirts paired with thigh-high boots, I get the feeling that pants (or at least leggings or tights) are overrated apparently. I do recall knee-length skirts with knee-high boots back then, but at least that's better than short skirt + ridiculously tall boots. I just don't understand these boots at all. Maybe that's why I've "retired" from really discussing fashion...

The worst fashion nightmare was shown some time in the past- jeans tucked into thigh-high boots or over-the-knee boots. I don't have any favorite thigh-high or over-knee boots. Still can't stop thinking of them without thinking (exotic dancer) sometimes.

Really?

I think this is the best look to come with thigh high boots. Surely none of these pictures remind you of strippers...

No, they don't. They don't look like (exotic dancer) boots when tucked into jeans. Fashion has no limits, but I just don't like thigh-highs + boots. Unless I convince myself or see a thigh-high boots + jeans style I like, I'll viciously dislike that look as much as I've hated jeans-into-boots and open-toe boots before I wised up on them (and the firestorm debates I've endured as a tFS regular).

i love this trend and last season i found myself wearing mine flat out. always with jeans or leggings made the most casual outfit dressed up. wouldnt ever wear them with tight dresses though.

love love love this look for winter. I would wear it myself with either long black tights, or a mini skirt & black opaque tights, or a short dress with dark grey socks peeping up the top.

The company I work for is marketing to wear them with oversized glamorous blazers, black mini dress, and black flat knee-high boots. or with a trenchcoat, cordroy shorts / neutral top colors, and thigh high olive green suede flat boots.

what about over knee combat boots? likey? i do!

Go ahead and defend those because I think those Jeffery Campbell combat boots are horrid. Not even real soldiers need boots THAT tall. Again- defend those boots (because I know somebody will) starting... RIGHT NOW!

Of course, if you like them, that's all that matters. I've given up debating fashions on here. But if it was "Yay or Nay" on those, "Nay!" would immediately be my response no matter what anyone else thinks.

This is NOT the yay or nay thread but I must say I don't already like combat boots in general but the combination of combat and over knee is even worse imo. But if you love them go for them.

to those looking for a flat thigh high boot just DIY a leather 'leg warmer' out of an old leather calf length skirt and then strap them with leather wrappings. it's what I did when no one was selling flat thigh highs last year

i don't like those jeffrey campbell's either, okay, bad example. there was a foto in WWD of marc jacob's assistant footwear designer, and she had on some picture perfect ones, i wish i could find the image again. ohhh well.

I dont mind those JCs. I think they could be great with super skinny jeans, white tee and a blazer...

It always helps to try and visualize. There are lots of things I see instore that make me go "NO WAY" but when i put it into context with other clothing, it suddenly seems like fashion genius

I live so far from department stores that I have to mostly order my shoes online. That being said, anyone know of any over-the-knee boots that fit skinny legs well?

just got my first pair...
it's going to be interesting this fall to figure out how to style/wear them...

fun fun!!!...

:woot:>>>

I love thigh high boots only problem is im short so most end up being whole leg boots haha :ninja:

I still don't freaking get these boots or their appeal STILL don't. Most of my past ideas about these boots remain the same. Just don't get what makes them even remotely appealing.

i thought you were retired...?!
:P
maybe you shouldn't comment - but just read from time to time...
maybe then you will learn some and understand more...

*just a thought...

:innocent:

Thigh-high boots can also pass off as leather leggings as well, in a way.
The easiest/obvious way I can think of to wear them would be to treat them like leggings - in a way it's all about showing the boots off right?
Nothing wrong with having a heel, as long as it is not stiletto - now that would be hard to pull off, imo.

I think this pretty much sums it up...

nice one PI...:flower:

:D

Personally I like the look of thigh high boots, but only without the heel in flat-boot form. I find the ones with heels just a bit too vampy for me, don't think I could pull them off on an everyday basis :D. But I definitely think with a cute a-line mini, sheer black stockings and a cropped cardigan top they're definitely cute.
