Hi,
I have a strange request for those interested in art and design:

Can you help me track down as many items relating to the theme 'bone' as possible?

I have racked my brain and searched many sites and have come up with various things such as:

Teeth- jewelery utilizing animal teeth
Bone China- utilizes ground ox bone and bone ash
Lighting and design made to resemble skeletons
Ivory

I am not necessarily pro bone usage in design (being vegetarian) however I am interested in its use whether in the past or today.

If you can think of architecture, objects, designs or even concepts relating to bone I would love to hear back from you!

Bone inlay, corset stays, ornaments, scrimshaw, buttons, netsuke... These are Naga or Chin tribe incised bone hairsticks.

Thanks SomethingElse! :flower:

Papa_Levante, it's true, skulls are everywhere in fashion but they are rarely inventive enough for me to be interested in them!

i saw lots of nice vintage ivory jewelry on ebay a few months ago...

Yeah I've seen some amazing hand-carved ivory but it still leaves me with a bad feeling. All those beautiful elephants...

This Pac-Man skeleton was put together by Le Gentil Garçon and paleontologist François Escuilié, and was modeled after the skeletal structure of predatory animals.

I'm planning something for November called 'bones and glass' and I'm looking for inspiration with the bones part- glass has proved to be more easy. ^_^

I don't know too much about designs but here are some examples in art

Damien Hirst's 99 million dollar diamond encrusted skull

and "Leviathon" by Tim Hawkinson. It's hard to see in the pictures, but its a dinosaur/dragon/mythical creature skeleton made out of clay figures rowing and the head is a curled up person
