Bone in Art and Design

Oliveira Baptista used the bone element really well in the HC show. :flower:

that crochet is amazing...does anyone know where that's from?

that crochet is amazing...does anyone know where that's from?
It was made by Hildur Bjarnadόttir:

"A native of Iceland and resident of Portland, Oregon, Hildur Bjarnadόttir is internationally recognized for her contemporary reinterpretations of traditional textile handwork – the arts of weaving, needlework and crocheting. She invests conventional forms such as doilies, embroidery, and table coverings with novel qualities that often incorporate humor and surprise...

...Another apparent issue is whether crocheting, normally considered a woman’s task, is doomed to gender bias. If men crocheted, how would the process be different – would skulls and guns become integrated in their applications? Bjarnadόttir uses the iconography of military weapons in such works as Shooting Circle to address topics of political content. In Untitled (skulls), the artist’s finely executed table covering is outlined in crocheted skulls and presented on a round dining table – the effect conjures strange and powerful associations between death and domesticity. We are gently reminded that there are no rules when there is imagination, and subject matter is not necessarily gender specific."

If evolution could create a chair...

Trees have the ability to add material where strength it is needed. But bones also have the ability to take away material where it is not needed. With this knowledge the International Development Centre Adam Opel GmbH, a part of General Motors Engineering Europe created a dynamic digital tool to copy these ways of constructing used for optimizing car parts. In a way it quite precisely copies the way evolution constructs. I didn't use it to create the next worlds perfect chair but as a high tech sculpting tool to create elegant shape with a kind of legitimacy. The chair is the first in a series and the process can be applied to any scale until architectural sizes in any material strength...

WISH AWAY PAVE NECKLACE

"Everybody has their unique wishbone strategy–some people pull, some people hold solid, but in the world of the wishbones, there are no guarantees. With this 14-karat gold plated necklace from Rachel Pally, at least one dream comes true."

Thanks Evae :flower:
Are there any rooms or features in particular that remind you of bones or is it just the general design?

for me it´s the general design, espacially of the windows and the columns near the windows. but if you look long enough you´ll find much more things that remind you of bones or skulls
