this one probably goes without saying but...lots more "winterizing" of dresses..as mentioned above lots of "layering techniques.." incl. with scarves around the head in a certain way..

very short dresses (or things of very short length) over leggings..

definitely agreeing with the ankle boots

i dont know about you guys but i noticed a lot of skinny black pants..

liquid black eyeliner was still around in some shows

the combination of black and white..

voluminous jackets..

F/W 06.07 Catwalk Trends

Too early?

Anyways, I see a lot of:

1) Brown, and
2) Volume/ballooning at the skirt part of dresses, and
3) Waist restrictions

What I've seen so far:

  • sheer white tights
  • cropped gloves
  • black, medium grey
  • geeky white socks with black shoes
  • leggings
  • suspenders
  • lame fabrics
  • men's cut pants

I agree ... the amount of brown (this soon again) is surprising. Still lots of greys and blacks, agree with lots of plaid, and I'm seeing a number of 80s (and better, 20s/30s) influences. What I'm not seeing that I thought I might is lots of animal prints. There are a few, but they seem to mostly be grey/black rather than traditional colors so far. Another thing I'm not seeing is spring's skirt shape. Straight skirts, perhaps a bit wider than pencil, seem like they might be important. There do seem to be a lot of voluminous trousers (no thanks) ... Oh, as far as color, am also noticing a fair amount of very rich deep wine red. Also blue seems to be continuing from spring. Chiffon/organza and shiny luxury fabrics also continue. The plaids seem to be quite diverse, from menswear to buffalo to traditional.

So far I'm not feeling very inspired ... but thankfully we've got a long way to go.

Luella (Suitcase Girls) F/W '06. I hope this retro style look develops into a trend. Maybe this is normal progression after the Hitchcock silhouette?

I just KNEW they'd bring tweed back. I have a feeling Chanel is going to be cool. Are bubble skirts, layering and black still cool?

I think it's still going to be a big runway trend (from what I've seen so far...).....

^ i hate that i may need to work with tweed as a fw 06.07 flash trend for my clients.. it's so totally zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and i cant see the commercial charm since its been out there for much too long now
