Chanel Makeup: What's good?

This weekend I bought a new daycream from Chanel: Hydramax + active. I used a few testers before I bought it and I love it. It is so moisturizing and nourishing for the (dry) skin. Perfect!

My alltime favorite highlighting powder is also from Chanel. It's from the Christmas collection (2009) I believe. Unfortunately it's not in stores anymore but I bought three of them atm, just to be sure!! Haha!

And the best nailpolish is from Chanel imo. The prettiest colours I own are Particulière, Orange Fizz, Blue Satin, Lotus Rouge and Trapèze.

I don't think this colour suits her at all, but I think it will be perfect on someone lighter-skinned...like me :woot: :woot: :woot: I am SO getting this one.

This is my first post, hello everyone
I really love the look of Nouvelle Vague, I have far too many Chanel polishes already though...Mademoiselle is the next thing on my Chanel to-buy list.

Nouvelle Vague is getting all the attention, but here's a closer look at the two other shades in this particular collection, Mistral and Riviera (temptalia.com:(

^LOVE those shades!

Had to stop myself from buying another Rouge Coco the other day, they are so addictive. I still think I am more of a Rouge Allure girl though. That stuff is amazing!

^ Which one(s) have you already got? I'd like to have a look at Mademoiselle. Normally I dont want to buy what obviously everyone wants, but Mademoiselle seems to be a beautiful, yet discreet shade that is very similar to my natural lip colour. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

OWWWWW MYYYYY G......

Today I saw the Fall Collection.....

This is from style.com beauty blog - breakdown from the fall show & some of the new products...

Peter Philips, Chanel’s creative director of makeup, has a knack for pulling out specific elements of Karl Lagerfeld’s sartorial vision and reinterpreting them in beauty terms. Who could forget Philips’ ivory-coated lash lines and pearl-tipped fingers to complement the house’s all-white Spring ‘09 Couture show, or his jade nail from Fall ‘09, a shade that was plucked directly from the similarly colored tweeds and accessories that Lagerfeld sent down the runway? For Fall ‘10, Philips was at it again, although this time, he focused his attention solely on the eyes. “I kind of re-created a paint/print texture that Karl used in some of the handbag and shoe designs for the show,” Philips said yesterday backstage at the Grand Palais, where he was crafting an elongated, oblong shape on lids with tiny brushstrokes of La Ligne de Chanel in Noir Lamé placed on top of a sparkly taupe pigment from Enigma, a new eye shadow quad that will be part of Philips’ fall color collection. In addition to having a steady hand to get that perfectly haphazard liner application, Philips recommends applying the eye shadow wet to amp up its intensity. Otherwise, skin was kept clean and fresh, lips were nude, and cheeks were given a slight contouring with a lovely new shade of Joues Contraste Blush in Pink Cloud, which imparts an ever-so-slight luminescent flush. For you fellow nail junkies out there waiting to see what Philips would come up with next, he gave his limited-edition Jade Rose—a subdued pink color that was released last fall but was overshadowed by its pure green counterpart—a second go-around this season, which means you’ll have another chance to get your hands on it when it bows this summer, if you missed out on the opportunity last year.

I'm so excited for Pink Cloud, Jade Rose and sparkly taupe!!!

Here's a look at the three colours in the Noir et Or collection, only available in Chanel boutiques (all info from temptalia.com:(

Gold Lame (copper gold), Black Velvet (matte black), Illusion d’Or (clear with gold sparkle).
  • Gold Lame (440) is a metallic yellowed gold. Like the majority of metallic finish polishes, there are noticeable brushstrokes. It went opaque in about two coats, but I did three to see if I could minimize the brushstroke-effect. I loved the layering effect of Illusion d’Or on top of Gold Lame, because it camouflaged the brush strokes but you could still see the metallic finish of Gold Lame peeking through. This shade really does a number between different light sources–it goes from like a golden bronze to a gilded gold. Pretty but a pain in the butt to photograph!
  • Black Velvet (430) is not quite a matte black. It’s nearly matte, but it never dried completely matte for me. It had this weird, almost like a vinyl sheen to it. I wish I could describe the finish better, but I’m at a loss! Maybe like a rubbery look? They’re not really glossy or shiny, but they definitely catch the light a bit. The color itself is a very inky black with an almost velvety burgundy-brown cast.
  • Illusion d’Or (450) is a clear glossy base with large particles of gold, bronze, and amber glitter with larger iridescent pinky-purple glitter. This won’t go opaque in three or four layers, but it does look pretty as a sheerer shade. It is even prettier when layered over either Black Velvet or Gold Lame.

I think the colors looked better in the bottles...

The bottles look exquisite, but apart from the opaque satin finish of the black shade, you'd imagine you could get similar results from other brands.

Even though it's in keeping with the palette of the catwalk show, I'm almost sad that we aren't getting more dramatic shades in the autumn range, but I suppose there's still the winter and Christmas collections to come after that.
