I have a python silverado coming to me express from the UK to the USA and I see its been in customs for over 24 hours. I am so scared that it will be opened and see its python.

Is that not allowed to be imported? Python?

any horror stories?

^ california is the only state that doesn't allow it, and even then I've heard people got SA's to ship them and it was ok.

yeah I know you aren't supposed to in CA...but in TX not sure. I know you are supposed to have forms filled out to send exotics from other countries in.

I wish usps tracking wasn't so shotty...I hate it. I am like update! say out of customs. I totally stalked the customs guys at JKF today...they couldn't find it...

but I am terrified it got pulled and inspected no fun.

You can't purchase python in CA. NM and BG will not send python to CA either (generally speaking). Chloe NYC, Aloha Rag, Saks, and Nordstroms will send to CA.

To answer your specific question (since you're not in California) - python is permitted to be imported, but you're correct that a form needs to be filled out. I don't remember the form #, but on one I had shipped from Chloe overseas, they were required to fill out and certify this form. It wasn't delayed and all went smoothly, but considering that (I'm assuming) your seller didn't include the form, there's a chance it might become a problem if the package is opened. I guess all you can do at this point is cross your fingers and hope the box isn't inspected. Hopefully, it'll be fine.

I've had python products shipped to CA by both NM and BG. as guessgirl said, it all depends on the SA.

The differences are so interesting...I would love to see/know the "rules"... I get frustrated with NM and BG because they typically won't ship it to me. (Although I did manage to ignore the general policy on the NM website once or twice...)

The form is a CITES certificate. Was the bag insured? If the insured value is higher than the value on the customs form that could cause a problem. But, customs could just be slow....no need to worry yet.

breath, relax. there is nothing you can do right now so there's no point in stressing. someone once told me "worry is like paying in advance for a debt that never comes due" just be excited about your beautiful new bag -- i sure am!

I have bags shipped to me from all places (and yes a python silverado was one of them) and it all worked out.

I still think I am going to pass out. What of the custom's supervisors looked in the area they move packages that will incure duties and the area problem packages go to...and its not there.

They can't look through all the packages I know that...

...but they only have 3 boxes left from the date and time mine arrived left and they said they are gigantic boxes that they will process this weekend and mine wasn't there.

Where the heck would it be. I was told yesterday it should scan out with the packages from UK and it didn't and the supervisor said today that it should scan out...and NOPE. where could my package be!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats, guccigal. Glad you were able to confirm that they've located it, so now you can relax a little. That must mean it made it through without being opened - that's so great........ Post pics when you get it!

yeah I don't think they did I think it got a little mixed up/lost in other packages. jerks. oh well.

My post office is closed tomorrow but I have stalked everyone out and they said I can pick it up at the loading docks first thing. woohoo!
