I've heard so many stories, OMG, some are sad and some are just stupid!
This is what I've heard so far...

Chris Brown only turned himself in after he was named by the unidentified woman, aka rihanna/robyn who he assaulted. maybe he didnt realised she was going to rat him out? from what it sounded like she didnt want to say names but clearly her injuries were so alarming the police grilled her to confess what actually happened.

I read the Herpes rumour on here, a member mentioned it. I read about it over at TMZ & DLISTED.

There's a few rumors as to why Chris busted a fist on her royal alienness. One source claims RiRi accused him of checking out whores at a party. Another source claims RiRi gave Chris the Wonky McValtrex Virus (aka herpes). I'm not sure about the herpes defense. If everyone in Hollywood slapped a ho for giving them the herp, that town would be filled with busted up, beat down skanks. Oh, wait.... It kind of is.....

Somewhere in this thread someone posted (listing the source as well..but I can't recall it) that a 'Fixer' had been hired right after the incident by Chris Browns managers.. to spread the herpes rumor on the web supposedly to give CB some 'leverage'.

What good will throwing CB in jail do ?

Well for one it will satisfy most peoples sense of justice.. If Rihanna was my daughter I would want to repay him in kind.

Thinking longterm (after CB has served his time and me for doing time for going vigilante) Would doing time change him for the better?
Would he think twice before doing it again?

Beating up someone that violently is not a calculated task.. it is loss of control..and something that does not stand up against reason..
He won't go "I shouldn't, if I hit my gf I'll go to jail again".

I have no idea about the success rates of therapy and counseling for people who have committed domestic violence.. but if there is a fair chance that affects future patterns and saves future girlfriends of CB from ferocious beatings..
..then I would prefer to see him get therapy..
hopefully form within the confines of a prison, unable to live the lifestyle that he is accustomed to.

I agree Hanne - there is a major need for penal reform especially in the US. Many people coming out of jail are more violent than when they came in. Seriously. And I believe the reform rates for domestic abuse are much higher than other things such as paedophilia (which is "incurable" so to speak). It's exactly what you said above, it's about a loss of control and anger, in this case it clearly did not seem to be pre-meditated. And that doesn't excuse it, but it just suggests that it's not simply about jail time, it's about dealing with the deeper issues that make this an acceptable course of action in his mind.

I really don't think sending him to jail will benefit anyone including Rihanna. He needs treatment and it can be handled with the family not involving the Law and the media.

Sending him to jail will punish him, Of course it will not solve the problem in itself he needs professional help also, but it's important that this violent guys understand that if you hit your girlfriend you are going to be punished.
That it's not OK, that there is no justification for your actions. It's a crime, simple as that.
