Chris Brown arrested and sentenced for domestic violence

Chris Brown is a coward, especially with his lame pathetic excuse for an apology. Anyone who excuses or defend him is either celeb-worshiping clueless person, or grew up in an environment that condones violence against women or men. And to use the example of a supposed Madonna and Sean's domestic abuse as a justification for Chris is bizzare to say the least. Does that somehow lessens Chris's crime or condones violence against women? Who cares about someone else, when this thread is about Chris and Rihanna?

The only reason Rihanna's name became connected with Chris beating a woman and leaving her in his car, while strangers called the police is because LA Times released her name against DA advice.

An Open Letter to Rihanna: What It's Like Taking Your Boyfriend To Court

So what happens now? I'm no celebrity and I'm certainly not a lawyer - I don't even watch SVU on TV (culturally irrelevant, that's me!) - but I have been a victim of dating violence. And I did what only about 5 percent of victims but 100% of feminists say to do: I pressed charges and took my boyfriend to court, eventually sending him to prison for felony sexual abuse. It remains to be seen if Rihanna will press charges (although the state can press charges independent of her) so I thought I'd offer my perspective on what it's like to Do the Right Thing.
Weakness in Chris Brown Case -- Prior Attacks

Chris Brown may have gotten lucky because the charge he was booked on is kinda weak, law enforcement sources tell TMZ. But he's still in big trouble, and Rihanna says it's not the first time he's attacked her.

Sources say the Los Angeles County District Attorney kicked the case back to the police for further investigation because evidence that he made criminal threats against Rihanna is kind of thin. Our sources are quick to say he will, however, almost certainly be charged with felony domestic battery, a lesser offense but still serious.

^^^The public knows absolutely nothing. The only source I go on is what the police department actually said. This is from CNN:

And look what Rosanne has to say now

You didn't quote the police in your post re Sean/Madonna, you quoted family. There have been quite a few revealing comments from Rihanna's family. You will note that none of them say she wasn't injured--they are saying that her injuries weren't as severe as reported in some outlets, e.g., her jaw isn't broken.

Anyone who has read Rosanne at any length knows she is nuts. OTOH, commentary from people who have very few inhibitions can be quite refreshing.

On this point she clearly has limited experience of this unfortunate aspect of life. I volunteer with a battered women's group, and the issues and approaches to conflict the women have are many and varied. You certainly can't accurately generalize in the way Rosanne is doing here. I will say that some of the women are absolutely infuriating, but that isn't against the law. Being violent is, and Rosanne makes the point that the fight between a man and a woman is one she is extremely unlikely to win hand to hand very well.

Oh my...that's really bad...how is that "not as bad as everyone is thinking", that's awful. How could it be worse? Look at her forehead...really bad, she must feel awful being photograohed looking like that.

That's realllly sad and makes me shake...I hate violence

He should be charged by the DA soon

I wonder what excuse people can come up for him now. Disgusting. She's unrecognizable FFS.

That picture is going to be everywhere. It really is bringing home to me she is just a 20 year old, she's so young and to have this happen to her...her expression is just heart breaking.

The fact that he did that is absolutely disgusting. There is no excuse for this.

I notice the photo is consistent with the reports of "two horns" ... she is the picture of misery.

:o My stomach literally turned when this came up on the previous page. I can't stop going back to look at it, it's so jarring. Wow this truly is unbelievable.

I take my WORDS back and the long dissertion about him going only to rehab...
Never imagine it was that bad... what is that bump on her forehead?

I don't think that picture should be posted. IMO.
This case is still under investigation and TMZ somehow
always releases stuff that shouldn't be.

A statement from Rihanna would've had been a better idea.

i can see a number of Chris Brown/Ike-Tina Turner abuse parodies waiting to happen....i wonder if his career is going to get through this.

^I agree, but I have to say if there was any doubt about his career being over, I think after people see this picture or more from the set, they will really change his opinion of him.

It looks like there are two of different sizes. They look to be what we always called goose eggs, where you get swelling after slamming into something (or something slamming into you). As I think about it, they seem to only happen on the head. I guess because of the skull, the swelling has noplace to go but out ...

Hope not. There are plenty of has-beens in his industry--let's have one for a really good reason.
