Chris Brown arrested and sentenced for domestic violence

When two people have a row and one of them get beat up (and there was never any doubt that Rihanna was beaten up), you don't need 'more information' to form a moral judgement and condemn the violent attack as wrong.
Shouldn't you hear both sides of the story before making a judgment?

A violent action itself is never okay; however, in some cases the reasons and motivations behind the action will make you understand why the action was committed.

*I'm not sure if I phrased the last part clearly enough*

I am totally disgusted that TMZ has that photo of her. That is just way over the line.

Not surprised if this was leaked from the cop shop.

Eternity Goddess, You and I are basically saying the same thing.

Then you agree that, beside in the case of self-defence, violence is morally wrong. Always.
in some cases the reasons and motivations behind the action will make you understand why the action was committed.
Which is why we have trials, to hear all the circumstances and give fair and proportionate punishment.

If you have followed my posts, I have advocated measure and compassion with the posters who were wishing horrible things for Chris (well, at least until his appalling 'apology'). But the fact that Rihanna was beaten up should never have occasioned moral dilemmas when it came to condemn the attack.

People are f***** up for different reasons, and there may be attenuating circumstances (his childhood in particular). That doesn't mean the act itself is any less repulsive.
That was my point.

The LAPD has released a statement which not only confirm the authenticity of the picture but implies that it did indeed come from the cop shop:

Los Angeles: The unauthorized release of a domestic violence photograph immediately generated an internal investigation.
At about 7 p.m. on February 19, 2009, the Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Section began receiving numerous inquiries about the release of a photograph associated with a domestic violence incident that occurred on February 8, 2009,
involving entertainer Chris Brown. The photograph appeared on an entertainment website. The photograph has the appearance of one taken during an official Domestic Violence investigation.
The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence.
The Department launched an immediate internal investigation and subsequently filed a personnel complaint.
A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination.
Anyone with information concerning the unauthorized release of the photograph is asked to call, during regular business hours, (213) 485-4152. After-hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to our 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247). Callers may also text “CRIMES” with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web Tips. When using a cell phone, all messages should begin with “LAPD.” Tipsters may remain anonymous.

No doubt TMZ paid the leaker a heavy some of ransom.

Personnel at police headquarters and hospitals are never to be trusted, especially in L.A. There's something about the Hollywood culture here that overwhelms a person's sense of decency.

We had hospital personnel (doctors and staff) who were releasing private medical records of celebrities to tabloids. Some were fired and some reprimanded. There is no secret, medical files, or ongoing investigations that won't be leaked. It's all just a commodity.

In a way I think its good that the photo is out there because people were starting to doubt the seriousness of this and were criticizing her. I mean my local radio station was asking listeners if she should take him back?!!

Well, it wouldn't surprise me that they'd ask the same question of Nicole Brown Simpson if the the dead could rise again. Domestic violence just isn't taken seriously enough... until it turns deadly.

You're right in part, but I have difficulty accepting leaks coming from people who are sworn to protect the public and safehouse sensitive private info (until they're ready to be released). They're using their position for financial gain.

I refuse to read anything from TMZ. Seriously any person who releases personal information are just scum.

For some people a violent act against a woman in and of itself is enough to make the judgment.
I don't think those people care to know why he did what he did.
I am one of those people.
I know some crazy women who get up in their guys faces and even resort to violence themselves and a real man is the one to call the police or find a way to difuse the situation. Not smack his girl around and leave her alone and bruised to call them herself.

If she did hit him, as some are saying, she was very wrong to do that as well but there is no real evidence to show if that happened. Her face on the other hand lets us know what he did.

I never thought Chris was a man. He always seemed like a kid to me. His actions just proved it. I doubt any 19 year old with family history of abuse knows how to walk away.

But that is absolutely no excuse. Not everyone with a history of abuse punches their girlfriends.

What he did to her is sick!

It's her 21 Birthday Today

What a way to spend it, your injuries pic leak to the press..

Witnessing your mom getting beaten up is not normal. He is not normal. From age of seven to thirteen he lived in a abusive home. He is 19. I doubt he has worked on his issues. And from the statement he released, he is not seeing a therapist. Rihanna is the one who felt the consequences of his messy life and he will too soon.

ok basically the bruising is on the lips which are swollen and the forehead!!
Swollen and bloody: you can clearly see coagulated blood on the side of her mouth. There is also a scratch beneath each eyes, and those horns... :ninja:
anyway i am sure she s gonna get back with him
Even if she wanted to her entourage would never let her do it.
After that picture, any public figure that support him will suffer PR backlash of epic proportion. That includes Rihanna.

If she hit him after he started punching her, that's called self-defense and isn't wrong.

But in general I am just not on board with this whole moral equivalency thing. The potentially lethal nature of a violent man significantly changes the equation for me. Like a Yorkie and a pit bull that both bite ... which one do you think you better get under control first? If you go for the Yorkie because all biting is wrong ... well good luck to you.

That is not true--some do. The anger would be there, but not necessarily the violence.

Again not everyone with a terrible childhood is a women beater, That is absolutely no excuse, He's a violent individual and has to be punished. I have absolutely no understanding for his issues after he did this to a woman.

If the goes to court, I'm sure the judge will take in account his past when delivering a sentence, but that does not mean that his actions are not despicable or his past in any way justifies them. He's vile.
