Christian Dior S/S 2017 Paris

There are some things John made so his at Dior that new creative directors at the house shouldn't even touch--any graphic t-shirt with the word "Dior" on it or an "8" or the star motif (Dior is more than that anyway, try and find something new). Anything that says "J'adore" or a play on the word "Dior"--even the sheer dresses with the underwear, such a John thing, she should have really known to avoid that, especially considering it looks so Valentino. And so many of the black sheer dresses with the bustier remind me of the last few looks from fall 2001.

This is really horrible. Hate the fencing theme.

This is tragic. The house of Dior seems to be finished after Galliano left, and this is it, this is the final accord. So sad :(

I loved the first part, but I agree with everybody, this is Valentino 2.0.

I actually enjoyed the beginning with all those fencing inspired looks. Wish she'd explored it more. The second half was, of course, all Valentino. And I'm no fan of the current Valentino. I could see some JG in the collection though, but could've just been the hair fringe on the models (Dior SS09).

My biggest problem here was that there were too many looks and too many repetitive looks. They were just running into each other. Had they edited and gotten rid of some of them, it would've made the collection look stronger.

In the end, I didn't totally hate. It was kind of...there. But I guess that's not very good for a debut collection at Dior.

This also reminds me of Rossella Jardini´s Moschino...the t-shirts, the underwear, the golden DIOR letters...it´s tragic watching a Dior show which reminds you of 90s Moschino.

mhhh.... what am i doing today,...????.... fencing or ballett...?? of course both!!!!

Great, a Valentino-Isabal Marant-Chloe mix... I really thought was going to do something completely different that actually references Dior's archive. I was (still am) excited to see a woman head up a major house. Maybe next time will be better.

I can't believe people went into this expecting something totally different.

If it ain't broke don't fix it! I truly appreciate that she took her ideas at Valentino and brought them over to Dior!

It was a beautiful collection although I hate all-white ensembles and I could personally do without those Moschino-Ish logo accents...I hope next collection she does something more gothic like what she did in Valentino.

I'm just happy she stayed true to herself and she will evolve collection after collection.

The fencing-inspired beginning was almost promising - those are the strongest looks for me, for sure - but the rest devolved so quickly. It's so, so flat. Almost clinical in some areas, insipid froth in others. Yikes.

Why did she ruin a promising collection with the same exact dress in 1000 "different" variations?

After the badly constructed, ill-proportioned, serged, collaged, Frankenstein parade of horrors at the other famed houses (Loewe, Balmain, YSL, Lanvin...) I am just glad that she brought her game, the great atelier delivered, and I only hope that she gets out of this same old tailored-bustier-with-tulle-skirt mold or she risks turning into a Sarah Burton.

Plus, I love the fencing garments (there's so much more to the outfit to be explored, the masks structure, the laced-up works, etc....a good designer would know how to turn out 10 different looks on this inspiration alone...) and NEED those white laced-up boots *now*.

uh, am I the only person that completely forgot someone new was at Dior? here I am wondering why so much reaction for the design team haha lol..

I like her moodboard?!. She'll get there... designing for Dior must be such a b*itch, but I'm optimistic, maybe she'll eventually adjust and produce something balanced with what she's into, the house's bipolar and psychotic demands and the eternally whiny customer and enthusiast.. good luck to her!

I can't believe I'm saying this but I miss Raf so much now. At least he had some interesting ideas. This... you know, the moodboard was fantastic, but this collection is not. It's tragic I would say. I don't know where I should start- Dior took the boring one from Valentino and here she used some Gucci codes (like the little bee on some of the looks), Moschino's t-shirts (like come on, it's Dior, you could have been a little more trying to be creative at least) and Calvin Klein's underwear straps. As a result we have this... something. I think it can be succesful when it comes to sales, but this aesthetic is just so bad and bland.

Now I'm curious what Pierpaolo will do with Valentino. At least it will be prettier than this.

Such of waste of time...
At least for now, we know why Valentino has been such a boredom. I'm so tired of that silhouette and the sheer dresses. Could someone burn them please!!??

And the underwear-Christian Dior-thing that belongs more on a DKNY/CK runway was so passé.
The Fencing inspiration is maybe new for Dior but what's the point if it's to make it look like Valentino.

The only great things about it were the kitten heels and the tailored Dior pantsuits.
It seems like she was inspired by the Gianfranco Ferré years. A lot of silhouettes reminded me of him.

At the end, you felt people were so annoyed about it that they were literally ready to leave. They stood up, not for a standing ovation but more to get out of there.

Uninspiring...as if Dior wasn't boring enough.
Good luck for the Dior and Valentino PR department.
I'm done with Dior. I didn't care before but now, i really don't care for this.
After nearly 7 years of slump, i don't think we will get something out of them anymore.
I'm not entirely positive as I've yet to read any reviews or interviews explaining otherwise, but it seems like the fencing looks are actually reference to the "Duellists" section of the infamous S/S 2000 Lauryn Hill collection. Which would explain the boots...

I'm happy that she didn't try to copy Raf's style, but all the time I read "Christian Dior" on the clothes i were confused because I thought I'm watching a Valentino show. I wish she had used more symbols and typical styles of the house. As you all said: the Valentino Show on sunday will be pretty interesting.

Personally I have never been a fan of the effort at Valentino. I found it too repetitive, asexual and direct, however beautiful made it was.

Tragically the same pattern and even design language is shown here with some new gimmicks thrown in. Terrible tshirts with the most pointless slogans, which only reaffirm how shallow fashion is by turning messages into vain images. Her theme, which is fencing, is interpreted too directly, rendering her results flat and uninspired. The patch of Valentino re editions are reductive. And then comes the awful section with embroidery... girl your mood board is showing. Poor intern, who had to tumbler these 2009 semi occult images together.

I'm a huge fan of raf, and whilst his work at Dior wasn't always his best, it was always filtered and inspirations where mixed and complex. I think Dior deserves better than this boring but well made collection. And I also think that Dior, as a prime Parisian house needs to be judged more critically.

This shows little potential for the future.
