Christian Dior S/S 2016 Paris

I was a huge huge fan of Dior when Galliano was there, I loved that everything was like it was, but Raf's vision of Dior is boring, nothing exciting... So boring!! This brand has a huge huge legacy behind it and you don't even follow it?!?!?!wtf Raf???:angry:

Good thing I hear he's on his way out...

Tell us more about it!

Makes total sense. I think the LVMH group has been thinking of dismissing him for two years now. Dior fades away with the hype of Gucci, YSL, Vuitton, Céline... And it should be in the front line.

I wonder how much money they've spent in buying covers and things like that. No editor, and I mean no editor in the world talks about Dior. Never ever.

And I go to their shops and feel like . I honestly see no difference from when I went when Bill was at the helm.

Love that Boy in silver though! What is doing a Chanel handbag here, though?

the only place i ever hear dislike for him at dior is on tfs

it gets so much critical acclaim elsewhere, celebs love it, it-girls love it...

Celebs..who get paid to wear it.

It-girls..remember, there's a sucker is born every minute.

Yeah, it's kinda funny how some people here set in their minds a fanfiction that Dior is this super huge failure, that they're dying to fire him, that editors only use the clothes because LVMH have them at gunpoint, etc. when in fact Dior today is one of the most praised and influential brands in the industry.

^When Suzy could speak her mind she said it all...

Gorgeous collection, much better than last season's effort.

^^But that's good about this place, people are not afraid to speak their honest opinions. We don't see much of that outside tfs.

I only like half of this collection. The coats and parkas are my favorites, especialy the flowers embroidery... LOVE those two!

I feel like he muted the clothes to highlight the bags. The cylindrical ones look pretty tacky, like from the old CD, but the others are amazing!

No sunglasses this time... :(

TFS Forums, as forums on others fields, are bubbles. Some people likes to see only what they want.

For example, they go on and on with the "Dior is paying for cover", but the new Gucci and that Prada pink/blue babydoll dress are on every cover to... And no one saids "Gucci and Prada are buying covers". If one brand can pay for a cover, EVERY brand can!

Yeah, it's kinda funny how some people here set in their minds a fanfiction that Dior is this super huge failure

And more funny is that they keep comming to Dior´s threads... Sometimes they replay 1, 2 and 3 times. I mean, im a fan and i dont post that much!

Bingo. I like to say we're the Cathry Hoyrns of the fashion forums.

The only thing good about this collection is the accessories, and even then only particular ones. Some of the metallic pieces don't jive with the boring clothes being presented

Of course it is! That's not what I meant at all. I was referring to things that are just not true, and a little bit delusional to say.

I always have mixed feelings about Simons at Dior. I prefer when he's more experimental, less commercial. This collection screams "buy me", there is no layer to get through and think about ( unless the last HC collection).

I like the knits, the shoes, embellished coats but not a fan of those shorts, they look pedestrian.

I also miss a research on colors, he used to be more daring...this is too white, beige, see-through. This feels like a collection designed for teens, not real women.

I don't like the shoes but I LOVE EVERYTHING ELSE

BTW, Kering is always releasing numbers about how the rtw lines of Gucci and Saint Laurent are doing... About how much the sales are up... LVMH did it with Céline...

Yet... Dior? They only say the HC is doing fine. No numbers. No nothing (for the rtw I mean). Weird.

I found it quite boring and it reminded me a bit of Chloe S/S 2009

the bags and jackets are great. This feels a bit Chloe-ish to me

It does feel very Chloe. All the sheer fabrics, the white , the ethereal feeling , the pretty-prettiness...

It's my favourite ready-to-wear collection of his but I still can't find the thrill of his first couture collection. I don't know if something changed within the house, if LVMH is pressuring him at being so restricted but his work is getting really inspid. I do like the jumpers, the accessories are pretty good too but beyond that there's absolutely nothing. It's not a bad collection, it's simply completely forgetable. There's not even enough material to criticize it. Is it pretty ? yes. Will we see those jumpers on every magazine covers and on every streetstyle freak ? Of course. Are we ready to see those white dresses all over the red carpet ? Most definitely.
Yet, is it satisfying ? Definitely not. We all here expect much more from Raf than this politically ( or commercially ? ) correct mess.
