Christian Lacroix HC S/S 06 Paris

Grotesque, the color usage and combinations...Absolutely horrid. Of course a few pieces are absolutely lovely.

What is this!? WHAT IS THIS!? It's like a cracked out salsa dancer...

That´s very Lacroix, if you don´t like it it´s probably cos you never got the Lacroix poison in full. I like that one very much.

I dislike Lacroix - mainly because of his normally imo excessive use of hot pink and turquoise - so this collection is a pleasant surprise for me.
There's actually a few pieces that I really like ! :woot:

there are obviously 2 sides to couture, the Dior one and the Lacroix one. both amazing yet so different. but they both represent couture so well.

My "hysterical" comment was in reply to Zazie who said "it never ceases to amaze me that deep inside everyone lurks a princess wanting a wedding cake dress...sigh..."..... As for Lacroix, he is one of my favorites. It's funny that you say there are two sides to couture FASHIONLOVA, because my favorites are in fact Lacroix and Dior. The only thing that I don't understand about Lacroix is that a lot of his designs aren't something you can wear to even a gala. So why design that? I'm a fashion design major at a university where we focus so much on functionality and consumer needs. Maybe it's like art, it's not about the money for the artists sometimes. It's about the appreciation of it.

exactly. for real artists, fashion s not about the money it s about how far they can go creation wise. and Lacroix s doing really well, his couture pieces are famous among those who can afford them.
as for what u study in school, i've been there and u are right it s about consumer needs because let s face it, how many of those who graduate are gonna be doing couture!!!:innocent:

I don't know why he came to mind...so I searched.

I really like some of these pieces.........very fantasy filled.

But...my my my...how he does like those ruffles and bows:lol:

I'd say that Dior and Lacriox are on the same side. If there's another side, it could be Valentino (old Hollywood) or Givenchy ("Goth" couture). Both sides, however, are for rich whackos, but nevertheless, :woot:.

What I wouldn't give for the video of this collection.

This is probably one of my all time favorite collections period. It's so gorgeous, every last piece is just stunning, and each one is a favorite...I couldn't even begin to think which one I like best! Although, I especially like Julia Dunstall's dress...to me it sums up Lacroix perfectly. It's opulent, it's quirky, the combination of the modern, blue fuscia and brown pop art pattern of the skirt with the sheer, embroidered blue and gold flower top...yum. Every last piece is delicious.:blush::rolleyes::blush::heart:

fantasy

I salivate when I see that beyond-beautiful pink ballgown.

These are truly beautiful dresses. The kind you imagine as a little girl.

Does anyone here shop at Lacroix ever? If someone does, do they think they could get their hands on a copy of the DVD of this show?

Whoa.

Here's the "toned down affordable" version of the blue dress. Retails for around $7000.
