Christopher Kane S/S 07 London

I generally like it. I like the second half better though. The only thing I don't really like is, some of the lace looks pretty cheap, but I do like the idea of the lace.

A lot of this might look kind of bad in real life, but.. i like this anyway. Probably because of the belts and zippers and neon colors, all raver themed...

It would be good if there were more variation though.. Like for example, maybe jeans, coats, t-shirts , sunglasses, etc..

i love this. this whole herve & azzedine shape revival is great, its so fresh looking.

the purple dress with the lime green belt is fantastic. and the versace boots look just as good as they did coming down the runway last feb/march.

It looks much better now after seeing the entire collection. And the fact that Versace helped out makes it even better ^_^

it seems very balenciaga s/s 04 with the surfer inspired dresses with the colours and stuff.
some of the dresses remind me of balenciaga s/s06. it's probably because of the ruffles.

I love both s/s 04 and 06 balenciaga collections and this is like both of the together.

Christopher Kane: Riding high on his consulting gig with Versace just a few months out of design school, Kane, 24, showed all the bravado one might expect from a young Turk who's been as feted as he. And indeed, his clingy, banded fluorescent tube dresses, sometimes spliced with lace ruffles and encrusted with crystals, showed he has a talent for statement-making, albeit in a Hervé Léger-meets-Azzedine Alaïa way. But 50 of the same blindingly bright looks showed his inexperience and read as one-note.

from wwd.com

like others mentioned already, i like his contrasting lace/active mood but this is certainly not something i could wear..
the guy seems in love with Herve Leger's style, but he should incorporate this influence in a less copy/paste way
his ruffle/cords experiment falls VERY flat for me..

not the 'design genious' everyone was talking about, but he's young and passionate, hope he develops towards something more 'original'

He should go into costume design, its not like you can actually wear this stuff. A couple contracting colors does not make this a good collection, its like a car crash you just cant help but look.

i think he's going about it the right way, these dresses, if anything, are editorial and what a young designer out of fashion school needs is press, press, press. He's gotta have something more than this going on under his sleeve. I actually liked his graduation collection more but then at the time he wasn't dealing with all of this new attention he's getting. The Russians will snatch this up!

it s obvious where he got his inspiration from, and it doesn t hurt him to be Donatella's protege. that s why he's getting so much press right now. but you can tell he's just starting and still not sure which way to go, his collection is very...young and experimental

the whole collection kind of reminds me of coral
You're right! How'd I not notice that... wonder if it was intentional or accidental?

I think its very "one note' as WWD said... but I also think that its really wierd that everybody is soooo excited about him, it is so heavely referenced from other designer, its a bit of a jocke that nobody is really saying anything.

Like Giles Deacon, its just 'Emperors New Clothes'!

the reason there s excitement is because of Donatella. U think that without her being involved he'd get this much attention? of course not

I had tickets to Christopher Kane and mananged to fall asleep untill like 10 minuites before It started (miles away) so I just went to Esther Franklin on the off shedual instead - which was running like an hour late so I left and missed that too *sigh*

seeing photos I'm not fussed I missed it :p

(however I also missed Betty Jackson - which I am anoyed at )

orders usually help as well and I don't know if he is going to get much with this collection.

A girl needs only so many short, bright colored, body clinging overworked sexy lace dresses. And that's assuming she even looks good in one to begin with.

If this hooplah and Giles' medicore showing is all London has to bare its laurels then perhaps it does indeed need Armani's presence to boost its appeal.

It seems to me as though London has never REALLY been all that important in the fashion world. I mean, obviously many trends and styles have grown out of London, but in the grand scheme of fashion things, London is not the forerunner in defining the season, and fashion as a whole. The London designers are few and in my view, a bit amatuer-ish, in gernal. As far as fashion weeks go, Paris is, and, as far as I am concerned, always will be the center of the fashion world, followed by Milan, New York and, then, London.

you guys hate it that much?...
aw, i thought it was pretty good. when i saw the photos of "the other" collection (what was that? his graduate one?) i definitely wasn't a fan. but this is nice. just looking at the crafstmanship is really cool.

although i will say that it is entirely unwearable!

^I've harped on about this many a time but I'll say it again. There is no point in comparing London with the other three cities because it's not so much a commercial fashion week and it does lack the big names but its appeal is exactly that. If you look at all the off-schedule shows, they're the ones to look at and get excited about. Sure, it doesn't pull in the big editors and glitzy celebs but anyone who is discerning about fashion will pay attention to London, not to look for directional trends as such but for seeking new names.
