Confessions of a Shopaholic Movie

ugh I was so dissapointed when I first saw the trailer. It is not like the books - which I absolutely adored - at all! Isla is a great actress but so not Becky... and why isn't it in England? Moving the location to the states has really made it lose that spark I guess, one of the reasons I loved it, it just seemed so English!

I haven't decided if I'm going to see this movie yet...

Can't say I'm excited because of the drastic changes from the novel. It might as well just be a different story! Unless if I hear good word-of-mouth, I will see it.

I'll watch the movie, I think the trailers are quite funny. Is it even remotely Shopaholic-like? Hell NO! Everything is horribly wrong. In a way, I kind of hope it tanks, because then it might get picked up at a later point. Preferably, a British company!

I'm not even going to bother watching this. Why can't they just stick to the darn book?

cos they are stupid!!!
dear producers and the whole movie crew, the books were a huge success the way it was written!!! your movie seems like :yuk:

I saw this awful movie called Simply Irresistable with Sarah Michelle Gellar last night and thought she would have been better for this movie.

i ve read all the shopaholic books when they first came out and this movie is nothing like the book. luke speaking prada is just wrong, he s not supposed to speak at all. and why is she american??? what about shopaholic takes manhattan???are they gonna make it shopaholic takes paris or london??
anyway i think am gonna look at this movie as something that has nothing to do with the book. since there are so many differences from it.
but overall it does seem like a funny movie

I don't think they're going to make a sequel, and also this movie combines all the other books, not just the 1st one (except the ones with sister and the baby)

^ that's what i've been saying! lol.
but it seems like the majority on this board already made up their minds.

^ Which is perfectly understandable. When books are made into films, fans and readers of the books are always going to have an opinion seeing as they will make up a large demographic watching it. To take something and alter the characters, story and plot line is not only disappointing but frustrating. As for Sophie Kinsella, she's obviously selling out for the cash, how she could allow her work to be Americanized and falsified is beyond me. It could have had the potential to be the next Bridget Jones, now it will be like any other forgettable chick flick with cheap laughs, predicable plot and generic fashion

^ That's exactly how I feel. You couldn't be more right with the Bridget Jones comparison. That's definitely the route they should have taken. Seriously, I loved those books so much and to see what this movie is coming to, it makes me sad. Who knows, it could end up being a good movie, but it just will not be a good representation of the book. For me at least, because they've taken out/changed the key elements out that made the books so enjoyable for me. They've just made it completely generic, for the sake of it appealing to a wider audience and making more money.

I saw the trailer last night, and it looks great. I'm looking forward to going to the cinema and watching it :woot:

I agree that the styling sucks, and that she should be british cause that's a great part of the character. But, while reading the books, I always pictured her with a certain "fashion victim" aspect to her. Her Plaza Wedding themed as "Sleeping Beauty" kind of confirms that. She's not supposed to be elegant and classy.

but i love the one with a sis... they are like me and my sister... well, my sis did buy me the book :p

i know i hate the movie now, but i know i will go to the premiere... i can't help it... hugh is adorable and i loved isla in defiantly maybe...
but i wish they would stick to the book!!! like in bridget jones!!!!

In the first book there is nothing to suggest she is fashion victim-y. Her style seems more simple and classy, not elegant per se, more mordern. The invention of the Denny & George scarf reminded me of the classic Hermes ones. She always seemed to wear M&S clothes, classic Bennetton cardigans with the pearl buttons , boots; What is fashion-victim about that?

I don't remember the other books in great detail but it didn't seem she went ott. She just added some MJ and other designers into the mix

I really hope Pat Field doesn't think this is great styling. If it is, that woman has gone plum crazy.

I can NOT wait for February 13th! But her bag in the opening of the commercial is TRAGIC (the white Gucci loves New York)! It's from last year, and it was already seen in the SATC movie!

I think Pat Field is not a fool. The outfits in The Devil Wears Prada were waaaaay more sober than SATC...
