Theme Swimming:
Well there´s something that Im not sure, is that some ppl say that girls who begin to practise with like 8 year old or what, and they do intensive trainings until 18 year old for example, so they passed the growing phase and some girls get large backs and that dont fit with the delineation of the body.
And some ppl think that this is really bad for womens who practise swimming, because their body will transform in a form of a V.
So...
Chris and
kmccormi what you say about this?
The word that sticks out is "intensive".
Younger people, of either sex, should really vary there exercise activities.
As well as psychological pressures, from intense exercising, there is also concern regarding some developing areas of the body, not being strong enough to cope, therefore leading to long term injuries, in intense exercise.
The "V" is in fact desirable to some people. Not to others. But with any form of exercising, one should be aware of the results.
That said , some studies have suggested that growth rates can be affected. Although, this is again linked to intense programs.
And younger people sweat less per BM.
Although, this really draws the need to implement a schedule, that defines the stage you are at, and your objectives, short, and long term.
There are of course negative issues in not exercising, in people of nearly all ages.
I think it wise to use the magic word...................Balance.
A lady at the swim club i used to attend, was as you describe. She was the most graceful, powerful lady swimmer there. So was this a consequence of her swimming time.....or was she a natural.....?
By way of a similar comparison, say the small stature in young gymnast's, is this cause, or selection........?
