yeah deb's solo LP is a bit under-appreciated. 'backfired' would be the main track, in the best Chic-goes-rock style [and WAY better than power station ever did it!!]. havent dug that tape out in ages but as i recall 'the jam was moving' is also hot. that lp should be re-issued including the various 12" mixes.
the sleeve is by HR Giger- notorious swiss artist who also created ELP's 'brain salad surgery' - to some one of the most striiking & memorable LP sleeves ever; Giger also had a hand in the "ALIEN" films- the alien itself is a signature giger image.

debbie is of course one of the all time greats on the nyc music scene and her presence, to this day, electrifies an event. many a time I saw debbie on the town with stephen sprouse [such as new order at the roxy, ruth polsky benefit] and then she would often represent for jayne county's rock dj sets in soho - the strokes might have made the nyc rock scene famous again in this century, but the underground rock scene was alive & well in the 90s too, and it was always thrilling to see debbie [and bebe buell and joan jett and other new wave pinups] still on the scene & enjoying the late nights & exotic characters that nyc has always attracted.

thanks so much for this thread soft grey ... I'm a huge Blondie / DH fan and adore the pictures!!

my pleasure lady bird...debbie's so cool..!!!

Debbie has always been the definition of cool (along with The Slits and Chrissie Hynde). This thread makes me happy every time I see it. Thanks!

i always wear the cuffs on my denim jackets flipped up like that.... ;)
I just found this same picture on a website the other day! I must say I have NEVER seen a denim jacket look cooler than in this pic. I've loved Debbies style since I was about 9 years old. Of course...my mom wouldnt let me dress like her. I guess some of these looks would be a little too risque for a 9 yr old.

I think the word "icon" doesn't even do Debbie Harry justice! She's just so fascinating on so many levels but the most interesting thing about her that separates Debbie from all the other stars in music is the fact she is both hard and soft at the same time and I just find that element about her so unbelievable. The IRONY in her image is so freaking cool and no one in rock history has ever achieved that. She's both class and trash, punk and glamour, mainstream and alternative.

If you can say that you were Andy Warhol's favorite pop star, Williams Burroughs was your friend, your designer (stephen sprouse) was so loyal to you that he turned Madonna down, every freakin' female performer from Gwen to Ashley Simpson calls you an idol, fashion shows and accessories named after you, you've done pop, rock, disco, rap, jazz, theater, movies and millions of boys and girls have masterbated to your posters and wanted to be you, the you must be Debbie Harry and the icon of all icons!

^welcome, vitramond, you really are a fan^_^

this was in my paper today, so i thought i'd share. sorry for the blurriness:
