Wait, so like a modernised Patrizia Reggiani. I kinda f*ck with this in theory. I fully expect it to fall flat like Jessica Stam at Chloe AW06 in practice.

he is doing an italian gucci exactitudes mixed and dumbed down as he did at balenciaga cosplay of types stereotypes its not all italy but there is more of it then his past balenciaga which had more Berghain and eastern europe rave chilches mixed with metal heads goths and (internet) subcultures .....

few more weeks and curious how the public will react the irony of cosplay will go over many peoples head some will see it as a seal of approval of there good taste :-) others will see its as boring , its a flea market for everyone best way to describe it.

all like throwing overcooked pasta in the air and see what sticks to the ceiling. it might be even successful as michele gucci had same way of doing 100 looks in shows.

demna likes bad taste that leans to dystopia he won't lose his simplistic replication of cliches, trick will be if he can scale it for a big brand like gucci that has to speak to so many people like a supermarket ala LV with a positive non offensive fashion luxury seeking wider audience he is not at erewhon any more.

if there are people that like the new dries new celine new margiela etc ..... i am sure more will fall in love with the new gucci :-)

its the age of flattening of AI fashion designed by humans before AI realy takes over ...just wait and see

mid level & vague enough is the new it's good !!! for everyone !!!!

I think you guys are overreacting, remember that at the end of the day, Lallo was successful only thanks to the basic merchandise. He got lucky with the release of best sellers in every category: Marmont bags, Princeton loafers, Dyonisus bags mostly. If Demna manages to release a best seller sneaker / loafer and a bag they will be doing fine at damage control in the short period. He just needs to release the Gucci versions of the triple S / 3XL and the Rodeo and they are fine at least temporarily.
Funnily enough, Demna managed in 2 years released more iconic and best seller bags (Rodeo, Bel Air, City) than Vaccarello in a decade at YSL...

In all fairness, that's more or less how modern Gucci operates. The creative director creates an appealing vibe that is later used to sell easygoing merchandise to the masses. Tom had his sexed-up neo-Halstonettes, Frida had her bohemian globetrotters, Lallo had his genderqueer aristocrats. A lot of Lallo's success was due to the sheer amount of merchandisable product in each show. The "Gucci by Lallo" look was very divisive, but one isn't forced to engage with the look to buy from Gucci. Demna will have to do the same.

absolutely they are counting on the it items that last longer than one season, the detail is will the world creation/storytelling be so clear like Lallo to hang all the merch products around it. because at balenciaga i got stale and monotone ..we seen with Lallo at valentino the fatigue of last gucci years continued at his valentino.

this is a rick it will be similar at gucci if he can't do something world creation/storytelling to buy into as i don't think his core balenciaga fans are enough to sustain a gucci growth

what interest me the most is can he or will he pivot to something that invited more demographics into his design vision as promised , gucci can play with edgy but in the end the need to sell to allot of non edgy people that never heard of berghain or obscure/pop culture dress codes.

its actually interesting to see what the result and reactions will be from hard core fashion to real wider costumers will his vision trickle down to the masses that bring the real growth out of the red.
