Rhude streetwear founder raided company to fund lifestyle, lawsuit says


The owner of a minority stake in the clothing line alleged in U.S. District Court in L.A. that designer Rhuigi Villaseñor “has been pilfering the Rhude Companies’ coffers to support” a “lavish lifestyle” that includes private jet travel, Italian vacations, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and a collection of $100,000 watches.


George Robertson, who owns 20% of Rhude, alleged in the suit that Villaseñor boasted of annual revenues in excess of $30 million but made distributions of as little as $41,000 a year to his co-owner.

I actually think that he is right to live his version of his aspirational life for the company he owns and represents is valid.. I don’t see why his product would have worked without his community sharing his enthusiasm for his luxury aspirations and enjoying his financial success in turn making them feel comfortable with paying premium prices for his product drops… the disagreement with an angry investor is a separate matter..

Maybe maybe not… If he owns 80 percent and is acting in interest of his company then he has the right to withdraw divends as he sees fit or have company cars etc.. fly private jet..if it helps build his business.. it has worked so far! He managed to become a creative director of an brand against odds.. his brand keeps expanding..

I'm sorry, I was really just commenting on how different the Bally image is. That brand of old money European discreet luxury is the polar opposite of the Rhuigi Villaseñor lifestyle.

I am sure he is getting back a lot more than the 60,000 he put in.. the value of the company will be a lot higher.. the company brand name has legs and you can imagine it existing without its creative director owner… how the company spends its money in the meantime is up to the company and I feel as though the 20% guy is not in agreement with the he spending so has taken an aggressive stance..

O have huge respect for Bernard Arnault but it’s because of this kind of dumb decisions like this one that you realize why he is killing an industry.
They got rid of someone who under total creative freedom made numbers, tried to control him and then replacing him with a popular rapper?

This is embarrassing and also feels a bit dated as Future was a name you heard quite a bit around the mid 2010s, but no so much anymore. So not only is it someone who doesn't really have any design credentials, it is someone who doesn't have that much buzz anymore, so what are they gaining here really?...

Recently went on a binge watch of Alber's first collections for Lanvin so this news pisses me off all the more.

It's not gonna happen. Lanvin has been fixated on the idea of creating a French Michael Kors, which, after all, turned out not to be the direction offered by Lapidus back in 2017. At the same time, Sialelli was forced to change his creative direction several times. The last alteration was promising, but apparently it wasn't enough for the suits. I feel like the brand has been going down the path of becoming yet another forgotten brand a'la Vionnet and there's no way back, especially with this Lanvin Lab thing.
