Izreal said:I understand how this show was an important step for hedi, in order to shut down the trickle down criticism and probably pressures from above, but i also can't help but being dissapointed as a DH client. Yes i admire the beauty of it all, but nothing here seems affordably wearable, maybe that is the point as noted above. the return to form is sure to enthuse the dior purists, but i guess i must be the only one who really liked the whole glam/goth/indie/pop/ska whatever you wanna call it influence. And no, it is NOT a trend to me, its a culture, a lifestyle. On the other hand this whole victorian/dandy/amish/torrero thing aren't really inspirations i can relate to. Also dior purists seem to sum up hedi's past collections into just T's and jeans. come on now there's been much more than that, fabulous jackets, coats, sweaters and the new classic accesories such as skinny ties, braces and high heel boots. in contrast those crazy bows, wide pants, satin capes... i wouldnt wear if they were given to me lol.
What i do think in the end, is that this show was meant as a shocker, a response to those that said hedi was "messy". I personally preffer the underground chic, minimal, rebel attitude, than the experimental haute couture approach, but i understand its necessity. In the end were talking fashion, not a culture or religion...things are simply meant to be torn apart and reconstructed. i think i'll be shopping on ebay next year..
I think when people are referring to the rocker/hipster/indie/etc influences as a trend they're referring to as a trend ammongst Hedi. You have to consider the fact that that look/style only comprises 4 collections of Dior Homme.
I'm with the posters who feel these collections were really tee/jean collections. Just look at the current stock on Luisaviaroma. It seemed almost every exit down the runway for the past seasons have included jeans. Also, I can't think of any really innovative pieces from those past 4 collections (maybe the chiffon shirts with bows from a/w 05 06?). Most of the clothes from that collection seemed to be heavily vintage inspired. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy these collections, but I don't feel they really fit with what aesthetic Hedi had started at YSL and carried over to Dior.
I really hope those Dior Homme braces aren't considered collectors items, you can get the samething from other places for far less. I personally think anyone who buys the Dior ones is a supreme fashion victim and I can only hope that if I ever have my own label I can get away with such ridiculousness

) And as far as those of you hating the skinny-skeletal boys of "this" collection. wake-up..that body figure has been the muse for quite some time now. Yes, i agree on the re-using of models...blah, but come on people. thin is dior. buff is..eh, well you get the point...
.. but at least some of that rebel/youth feeling is kept, making it more versatile than you'd think, it's no longer just for ballroom and charity events, but work at a, say.. a stylish birthday party or something, anyways I think it's really, really sharp
I like this collection MORE and MORE, it's amazing!
