^If I had to guess, I would say that the company found it much cheaper to produce in italy than japan. The denim that was made in Japan was just much better quality. Maybe not so much the denim itself, but the craftsmanship as well.

thz dude, im heading down to london this weekend, can u give me more places to shop, is the sales still on? :woot:

Sales are still on, but the clothes left remaining are there for a reason...

Concrete on Marshall Street in Soho is awesome if you're into your Dior Homme - they sell Unconditional, Robert Cary-Williams and the like, lots of effete clothing thats great for a lank frame (by the by, Jack Brennan, Dior Homme poster-boy works there occasionaly). Liberty on Regent Street have a good selection of menswear - Demeulemeester, APC denim, Viktor and Rolf for example. There's also the Preen shop near Portobello road (I met John Galliano whilst in there once!). Kokon To Zai (Frith Street?) is good for Raf Simons and weird stuff from Japan...also Bond Street for your big-name-heavy-hitters (Prada, Armani, YSL etc.). Finally there's Harvey Nichols just up the road from Harrods, who stock a few exclusives for the UK - Cloak, Thom Browne. They have a great selection of menswear, but sadly are staffed by some truly moronic wasters.

Enjoy!

I was at Barneys Chicago the other day. They have the Black Whisker version with the claw... That was done like 3-4 years ago.. I was suprized to see it:o. I thought it must be the old stocks they have left.

I looked at the tag and it was 6HH something.. so NEW STOCK... and MADE in JAPAN.. So I guess they are now switching back to Japan????

I guess they also have a great deal of demand for that style... :unsure:Makes me a little bit bummed with my current black Whisker jeans.. I thought I was getting a classic.. that no one can get anymore.. How typical of LVMH to squeen every penny. Just like they did with LV Epi leather in Blue.. they discontinue and then started again 3 years later.. Piss the hell out of me thinking I am getting something that no one can get... :(

The black whiskered jean has been avaliable every season as far as I know though the original released with SS03 has been of superior quality.

hey ionn26
thanks for the info
do they carry smaller sizes like 27 or 28?
seems like barneys, saks, neiman etc don't carry small sizez like 27, 28 or 44/xs.

i went to saks and the nyc store today. some nice stuff. lots of fall 05 stuff on sale but still to expensive. wish i had $ like some of you guys. peace.

The smallest I have seen is size 29 which is the one I picked up. I didn't check other sizes...

I would say a long sleep with a hooded overcoat(which is still available in Japan Rakuten in small sizes I think) and the scarf(just one) with arm warmer. The hooded overcoat is a carried over item. I was sooooo tempted to buy it...

lol you fetishist!

email me with the amount you would offer me and you ll find out...right? :p

As I previously said I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how much they're selling for on ebay or elsewhere so I think I'll pass unless I can find some info. I'm sure someone else will get it anyway or maybe it's already sold...

If that probably helps: There´s two kinds of "brut" denim jeans this S/S 2006, one being made in Japan, one in Italy. The Japanese is nicer quality and doesn´t stretch out as much as the Italian production, I personally found the colour a bit more appealing as well (a bit more indigo rather than just dark blue). Both should cost about the same in shop, so if anybody is undecided, just have a look at the inside of the jeans. In terms of quality, it´s getting a little tired hearing stories about deterioration of quality again and again, I´ve got a similar pair of raw denims from S/S 2003 and they are absolutely the same quality, albeit the price had been a lot higher back then.

Believe it or not, sometimes, when the quantities are high enough they happen to drop the prices as well at a maison like Dior. Please keep in mind that the quantities are by far higher in these seasons than they were back at the start, also, those jeans are rather easy to produce on a bigger scale than, say, those ripped and coated ones from S/S 2004.

I bought the "brut" jeans this season from the DH shop in Milan and they were produced in Japan and retailed for EUR 207. I'm not a fan of this season's collection but the fit, colour and quality of these jeans were all excellent.

denim

what does brut mean anyway ? Are these looser than the regular ones ??

thanks

are any of the black or white high-tops from s/s 05 around anymore. ive got an old issue of SPIN with beck on the cover wearing the black ones with the red line around the sole in my bathroom and they keep catching my eye...even though i hate beck. size 44 more or less.

fact of the matter is that since votc the dh aesthetic has been distilled to shortblazer/skinnyjeans/whitesneakers...and hedi slimane certainly didn't invent that.

honestly, i'd be more embarassed to wear dior now because of all this fanboy "exclusive label" hype that causes anxiety like yours.

how old are you?

is it me or has it become embarrassing to wear dior of late. my black high-tops from strip are the only thing(s) i can wear without painting my face red. i have sourced my humiliation to two proverbial factors: 1. the fatso's -- im sick of seeing portly, talk show hosts wearing the sh*t. dior has always garnered some static for its ultra thin silhouettes and gaunt 15 year old models but thats what made it wearable. size 40 middled aged men can't pull it off ever. 2. the knock-offs -- why is it that every slightly thin kid with an average hair cut has convinced themselves theyre tell carlson. only, they spend all their money on surfing, so when it comes to the desired dior look they cop out and buy a pair of air forces and some nudie jeans. obviously dior has its influences, so it may seem ironic to call the influence the fake ---thats not what im doing; im calling the stupid f*cking kid the fake.
