I definitely will. I'm having him make a variation of the S/S 06 safari blazer and a basic peak lapel one-button grey blazer.

Ha ha, looks like I've found the other "big client". Sam made the hussar jacket for me originally, it's amazing. I thought about asking him to make the Napoleon jacket for me but I decided not to, because I'm still dreaming of the day somebody gives me the original. I'm definitely going to have him make the Chanel-like jacket from autumn/winter 06-07 for me, he's actually really good.

how much did he charge you for the hussar jacket?

i'm thinking of having him make a variation of the SS06 short trench, maybe with mao collar like the one posted earlier...

Since he had to make the pattern from scratch he charged me US$270 including International Express shipping. I know it sounds a bit expensive but I tried on the Dior original and it was like $2400 and the fabric was crap so I was rather content with my deal with Samuel. I swear, it's a perfect copy.

No need to defend your purchase, fashionken. It sounds like you made a perfectly reasonable and rational choice...given the nature/quality of this season's collection I don't see anything wrong with getting a custom made version at all.

Yeah it's a hot jacket Alex! Definitely a rarity. If you look closely, it even looks like the front buttons would be hidden under a flap when worn closed too! I have never seen it anywhere, in any color myself.

The front buttons of a blazer jacket being 'hidden' can be found on a number of pieces that from Slimane for YSL RG. Very minimalist and clean. :flower:

Hey Winston, good to see you back around!

I've taken a look at Slimane's YSL pieces and a lot of them don't really "do it" for me. There's a fine line between minimalist and basic and I think a lot of the sweaters/long sleeved shirts that I've seen from his YSL days are more the latter than former.

I can see the evolution from that into early DH, but I definitely prefer his early DH work over his YSL pieces.

...I think even the upcoming winter collection is reminiscent of 60's/70's style art films, maybe it was the lighting in those photos I saw on Getty Images when they first came out but I picture them being worn in a scene where people are congregating at some big banquet with a lot of pretentious smiles and flattery going around...very aristocratic (not to detract from the clothes, which I thought were nice mostly, I'm just describing the kind of image they evoke from me).

Speaking of Aristocrat, has anyone seen the movie? I have, and imagining aristocrats in Dior Homme attire is, well, just sickening:rolleyes:

Now we're asking for favours... I don't remember the season but it's from a couple of years ago: A very discreet pin with the CD initials, might have been silver. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

Reflection. Yes I believe it was sterling silver.
