you opinion needed

Hi everyone, just looking for a few opinions here (while dodging the K West arguements). I have a black VotC heavy wool coat in my closet that I am not sure whether to keep or not. It is a size 48. I also have a size 48 DH trench and 48 DH suit that fit me pretty good. This coat however seems to fit like a 46, very slim and unforgiving and I am not sure if it is too small for me or not.

I think it is a little too small but just wanted to see what you guys think. There seems to be a sort of unnatural contour where the shoulder seam of the coat meets my shoulder muscles (yes I work out some) and my shoulder seems to buldge out a little.

While searching the VoTC runway pics I happened to see a model wearing a coat that has the same look at the shoulders (which doesn't necessarily make it right). So should I KEEP IT or LET IT GO? Let me know what you think. Thanks for your help!

(P.S. I know my bathroom mirror is dirty as hell with toothpaste stains but let's keep it on topic) ^_^

From the pictures alone, me thinks it looks good although I thought Dior Homme has a smoother shoulder seam. But yours looks like the one on the runway, so I guess it must be the way the jacket is constructed (almost like Poell's saddle shoulder look).

For folks in Toronto, Holt Renfrew is selling DH in Montreal shop only, but salesperson in Toronto can get the items and transfer them to Toronto. The collection is kind of basic and small, like tees, polos, jeans, but the price is pretty reasonable. Tee sold us$160 at eluxury is selling cad$195 here.

Prices in NYC vs. Paris

Hi,

I am planing a trip to Paris in the next few weeks. I was wondering if DH is actually cheaper in the Paris store vs. the New York one (considering taxes, and exchange rates)?
I was thinking of getting that short trench from SS06. It's at the NYC store for around $1500, do you guys think it'll end up being cheaper in Paris?

Thanks.

J.

Would you order from this ebay seller? I know they are fakes but paying the full price for a Dior Homme jacket is quite much.... I'm not going to order but would you be ready to order if the cut would be almost identical with this and dior or is it important to you that its authentic Dior Homme?

Just something else to talk about other than KW :) (not trying to piss anyone off)

It should be cheaper, especially for the stuff that's actually made in France (which currently is nothing, except maybe the suits, if I am correct). Don't forget, you can claim ~20% back in taxes because you don't live in the EU - so make sure you take your passport when you go, and ask for detailed instructions or google "tax free" if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I know that they are fakes but Dior Homme is expensive and sometimes a pit over priced... I'm not going to order but would you order this if the cut of product would be the same as Dior's or is it important to you that it's authentic Dior Homme?
I WOULD NOT order from him. Every few months the guy pops back up on ebay under a different name. He's been discussed thoroughly on the MSN forum and he used to be soixante de qing or something like that. People who have received their items have complained about their low quality, thinness and just overall cheapness. More often than not, people have to wait weeks if not months to receive their items and a number of people never got anything back nor did they get their money back. Pretty disappointing. Save your money is what I say!

I thinking to let go of my luster jeans because of the damage on my crotch area as shown in my photo , but i'm not sure anybody would be interested... if you are, pls PM me with an offer.

Did anybody attempt to cover up the damage by sewing the area?

Great fit and pretty beat up, for some reason this is the first time I atually thought the waxed jeans looked good (no offense to other wearers who like 'em, I've got my own style/taste). You're now thinking about keeping them and I approve, but if you want to get rid of em well I do wear a size 29 and will gladly buy them...

There's DH in Montreal, since when? (well there used to be but I thought it was all gone...) anyway I do work within a 5 min walking distance from Holt and I'm supposed to receive a dress shirt I had made so I'll probably pass by this week or the week after.

The shoulder seam is actually made to be puffy at the top (similar style than quite a lot of Italian suitmakers), it's called a roped shoulder and it's fine. Now that being said the coat does seem to be quite tight and I personnally don't like how you look in it, it's probably worse when you move and you seem to be unable to wear, say a hoodie, under the coat which should be a minimum. From a traditional point of view the coat is, of course, much too tight but when referring to DH that's beside the point. If you like it, keep it but if it was me I'd get rid of it and get something that looks slim yet less contricted. Oh and that model is demonstrating the look FOR THE RUNWAY where a little exageration is always welcome to get your point across, he probably can't leave his arm hanging by his side in a relaxed position.

Thank you for the comment and others as well who have replied. You are right the coat is very constricting, especially because the fabric is very heavy and it takes up room for the wearer as well. While wearing it buttoned my body does seem very stiff (as if I was in a straight jacket). If I could expand the entire body (shoulders, chest, and waist) by 1" around then this would be perfect. I guess I will not keep it, the tailoring is so perfect, but not perfect for me. And on a side note, I have always noticed from trying on many different suit jackets and coats from different designers, that DH garments make your shoulders look good even if it is not perfectly fitted. I guess the magic there is a reason for the high prices for the clothing. Thanks again and I will seek more opinions as needed!

Supposedly the quality's improved greatly. It used to be run by some other guy, who was apparently totally worthless and irresponsible. I ordered from them under the old management a year ago and never received anything. Then many months later, the new guy sent an email explaining the situation, saying he had a lot of work to do that the old guy left behind, and is currently making me the jacket I paid for initially in addition to a FREE one. We'll see how they turn out.

Yes, the shoulder seam on Dior jackets are superbly cut and to die for. I can never understand why other brands don't have the same cut - is it a secret like the Coca-Cola formula?? Or the Jil Sander's jackets don't seem to be in proportion - the narrow chest with baggy sleeves - yeah, great look.....not.

Fair enough! I hope it's truly under new management... although I couldn't ever quite figure that "company" out you know? At this point it's changed hands 3 times as far as I know and I can't imagine the ebay sales being that profitable either..

Let us all know when you get your pieces and the quality Alex!

Hmm, depending on how high the final bid goes, I could see myself getting a copy. For $80, if the quality is alright, it would be a good every-now-and-then, throwaway jacket. I mean, it could be a good tester to see of the real deal would work on me in a variety of situations, think of it like a rental, almost. :)
