thanx! I'm going to visit paris in july, gotta look up all the adresses...

I know this is slightly off topic, but I was about to buy a pair of jeans from luisaviaroma.com, but im not sure about the sizes. Are the sizes listed the waist size? All of the jeans I own have a waist size of 28 so would it be the same for the dior homme jeans? Also, how long are they?

Hi :flower:
my personnal advices concerning the jeans
if you want the 21 cm ones, take a size down
If you want the 19 ones, take a size down if you like it thight, or take a 28 if you want a quite slim fit

FYI there's a chain belt on ebay.fr, and it's only 180 EUR (err for the moment  )
there's also a Chiffre Rouge
and a faded jean in 28 (look like a poor old Diesel in my opinion though  )

For brands... Jil Sander and Helmut Lang both make ties that are skinny. They aren't the supertinyskinny ones but same in width as the classic DH ties you can get now.

Topshop also carries slim ties and even leather ties that are definitely just as skinny as those bee embroidered ties. Much better to spend like 12 GBP instead of $400 on a single tie.

Even punk/goth shops sell slim ties for way cheap.

we don't have a topshop  thanx for the suggestions, I might me able to find Jil Sander and Helmut Lang stuff at least in Paris. are their prices around the same as DH, lower or higher? The thing that bugs me about punk/goth versions are the materials used. you can see at the very first glance that it isn't of the highest quality :ninja: (well at least I assume so from what I've seen on the internet, and cotton or synthetic fibres can't look that good, although I adored some Zara ties, but all of them too wide...)

raf simons makes really nice skinny ties too... i like them becasue they have a really subtle stiched on R logo on them...

as is my understanding helmut lang and jil sander skinny ties are only slightly cheaper than DH, but you are more likely to find HL and JS ties on sale, whereas DH ones usually sell out before they reach sale or very soon after reaching sale....

Does anyone know what bow-tie is featured in that arena homme photograph. Is it this one?

Anybody knows the price for the 2006 S/S sportscoat with the leather lapels (actually only the upper half of the lapel is made of leather), have you also seen it on ebay and for how much?

You mean the jacket with leather collar? That jacket is reissued very frequently (almost every winter and sometimes in spring-summer, made of varied fabrics, like a regular worsted wool, or a flannel-type wool). The one from SS06 I saw at Holt Renfrew in Montreal and it was around $2600? Anyways, it pops up from time to time on ebay and sells for around $700-$800.

Yeah exactly, I think the first time it was made the complete lapels were leather and I wasn't that much into it...now it's a little bit toned down and fits my style better. I guess I want a new sportscoat and I'm not too sure what to get. This one seems like an interesting option as far as DH is concerned.

BTW since you're in Montreal you probably tried the grey cloak military vest with the slanted pockets, I think this one is totally killer...

Yeah, I love that Cloak jacket, but at $1000 for something made out of cotton, I'll pass (even if it's at 50% off). And also because I'm into the aesthetic of the fall-winter 2004 collection alot more.

Oh, if you're looking for a sportcoat cut like DH but for alot cheaper, there's always Acne at U&I. Not on the same level of tailoring, but very good quality and cut for the price (I think they're made in Italy too this season).

Lordevan, are you asking about the tees or hoodies? As far as the tees go, Dior Homme cuts alot smaller than AA (and shorter as well). AA = cut fitted, but not slim. I'd say a size M in AA is about a large in Dior.

I passed for the same reason, I might consider it at 50% off but their sale doesn't start until the end of summer and it'll probably be sold by then.

As for Acne I haven't checked their suit offerings in a while, it used to be sub par construction for the price but I don't think they used to be made in Italy

how do american apparel fit compared to Dior Homme? Are the stuff cut as long?

lordevan,

I own some American Apparel and DH items. The AA item I wear the most is a grey zip hoodie that fits very very slim. It is also incredibly soft. I have never tried on a DH hoodie but when I wear the AA one I feel the DH aesthetic very much (this is just an opinion however), I also feel the same way when wearing my AA white cotton tank with red striping that is almost exactly the same as a DH piece except 1/10 the price.

As for tees I believe that unwashed AA and DH t-shirts both fit very similar when new. However all my AA tees shrunk by 1 full size when washed and dried in the dryer. I'm talking about 1-2" in both the chest and the length. The best part about buying from AA is that they have the exact measurements on the website so it is easier to find the correct size. Keep in the mind the shrinkage though. It is significant.

I hope this helps.

For sportscoats I would also recommend J. Lindeberg. I have a new, white cotton one that fits very slim thoughout the arms. Even though it is off the rack and unaltered, I'd say the cut looks a lot more like the DH blazers shown on the runway than actual DH sportscoats that you can buy off the rack (at least the ones I have come across, which are mostly from the last 2 years, and in sizes 48-50). And I am not 100% positive if it is true on all models but I believe the shoulder width on my blazer is slightly wider than DH ones which works well for me since I have a bit of meat on my shoulders.

I can take a pic of me wearing my J.Lindeberg if anyone is interested.

I hope this helps.
