Hahaha interesting comment! I must agree. But the bee logo is more subtle than the cliche LV monogram.

But the bee is so cute! J/K but still, it's only a little logo, like the Lacoste crocodile. No big deal. And it's black, not green or pink or anything.

There are some vintage items here and there in the last collections, although with an altogether much nicer quality and cut. But it isn't generally vintage-ripoff in the slightest way IMHO, cept that crap brown leatherjacet from FW05 that felt and looked real cheap, and maybe a few other exceptions as well. But generally I disagree with you strongly in that vintage-ripoff quote.

There have been a lot of "treated" items in a way or another. Which seems to make some people automatically think (quite wrongly if I may add) vintage-ripoff. But isn't this what Carpe Diem and CCP also do?

Difference between a tiny bee and the LV logo? No one knows what the bee is; everyone knows what the LV logo is. When a bee does appear on a garment, it isn't plastered all over the place. The bee is either a symbol of the German army (or something) or has something to do with the fact that Dior was a beekeeper (or something). Lastly, nothing else really fits skinny guys like DH, so we will "flock."

I've found that Prada, Miu Miu, Dsquared (especially) and Dolce and Gabbana fit as slim as Dior Homme, and in some cases even slimmer! That being said, Dior Homme certainly makes their smaller sizes more widely available. I've never seen a size 36 button down from Prada, and Dsquared size XS is practically impossible to come across.


The bee is a reference to Napoleon. Napoleon himself had a bee stitched onto his famous red cape. The bee symbolized both immortality and "teamwork", both of which Napoleon wanted for his army.

I agree with Alex on this one. The old collections are by far the best. The designs are original (ok, ok people will argue that one... but I think they were put together so wonderfully coherently as well), mostly wearable, and the details are amazing. My early pieces show zero signs of wear even after being nearly 4 years old.

The last two collections are definitely grunge/vintage and I can't argue with that. Especially last season. Those green-brown tulle scarves were literally a few hundred dollars at Saks and there was NOTHING special about them at all... yet a month later they were all sold out.

The small bee is definitely not so prevalent anymore. I actually think it is a beautiful little touch that gets a number of questions whenever I wear my DH white dress shirt from Reflection with the bee on it. It's not really obtrusive since it's small and black. More often than not, the remark I get is, "I think there is something on your shirt..." hahaha

I'm likely not buying anything DH this season, just like last season. The aesthetic that I liked in DH just plain doesn't exist within that line anymore. I see it as a good thing though. I'm no longer tunnel-visioned into the brand and can eye it more critically and at the same time explore these other brands. I was in Atelier yesterday and my god.... it was beautiful!

I will forever still treasure the DH pieces that I wear on a regular basis and the suits of course (hell, I wore my Solitaire suit to my med school interview yesterday with the white dress shirt w/ bee as well as some DH combat boots from Reflection as well hehe), but times and directions change. Such is the world of fashion.

Yeah, that's the thing. A lot of people here are like, "Plenty of other labels cut slim and do small sizes," yet I NEVER actually see proof of these small sizes existing. And honestly, there's usually not much in those brands that makes me want to spend months hunting down something that will fit me.

Carpe is definitely WAY slim. If DH makes me feel big on average, Carpe makes me feel huge... but I still love it anyways hehehe.

It's a different sort and ideology when it comes to the tailoring though. It's not about constructing its own lines with the material, rather "building" the fabric around the wearer thus creating that more organic look. You wouldn't describe it as "sharp", more elegantly natural.

Yes I agree, that's why I wrote "own terms". I only mentioned the tailoring in regards to DH since this is after all a DH thread. (And I also hold DH's tailoring higher than either D2 or Dolce, but I have absolute no interest in either of those labels)
I do have a CDiem (OK, so it's LMaltieri since it's not leather) coat and it' beyond fantastic, and a DH coat could never give me the same feeling but I appreciate both. And that is a little werid because the ideology of DH and Cdiem are so far apart, yet there are several people here who takes a liking to both of them labels.

But I have to ask, why do you have a fly stuck on your top?" etc. And it is a logo. I did buy a dress shirt with a bee sewed on it on once, because I wasn't thinking properly.

i kind of agree with you. I buy dior dress shirts because of its clean french cut. back darts . most of all small and razor sharp collars.

i do not go against people who buys the bee shirts .. but you see , the bee is the Dior Homme logo. and there always will be people who want to show off.
in my perspective , the bee itself isnt much of a problem, compared to LV , the bee is kind of low profile yeah?

but hell i love Dior Homme dress shirts.

I have loads of pieces with the bee on them but I don't really notice it myself and I've never experienced that anybody noticed it. I don't really care about the bee but to be honest, I don't really get why it has to be there. If somebody wants to show off by wearing Dior Homme they should know that the kind of people who would notice the bee are the same people would know that you were wearing Dior Homme just by the looks of your clothes.
